	3:12am pacific standard simon: During my '69-70 year in school, I had a shop class in which we were assigned a project where we had to make a rubber stamp. I made one that said "Help I'm A Rock". I did not own a Zappa record, so I have no idea why I did that. Must have been random (FM) radio exposure.

	4:18am markr: No, but there's a fascinating new tribute to him by Gary Lucas (former Magic Band guitarist) and Nona Hendryx called "The World of Captain Beefheart," and I played a track from it last week and may play more in the future if we ever get an actual physical copy of the album in our library.
	4:19am markr: I've got a lot of other stuff planned for the 18th, including Keith Richards' birthday party. He'll probably be a no-show, though. Even though 3-6 am is mid-day for him.

	4:23am markr: I realize this isn't everybody's cup of tea, but I find Kuro's music incredibly haunting and beautiful. Especially the violin. One of my most exciting discoveries among the new releases here in our library.

	4:32am pacific standard simon: I've been all over the Beefheart records and tributes and biographies, and my personal opinion is that the tributes are worthless. Some of the Beefheart stuff is awful too, but some of it is the greatest stuff ever. And Beefheart himself might have been another Charlie Manson, if he'd been bent that way.
	4:34am Vincent Nifigance: The Tragic Band material between like 74 and 76 is weak, but it isn't even nearly approaching 'awful'. There are a couple of creamy songs on those I'd rank alongside his best.
	4:35am markr: I've liked what I've heard from the Nona Hendryx one, though--she brings a completely different perspective to it. IMHO.

I was a child then, so I won't insist that I'm correct, but there are any number of sources that can confirm the Mothers long run at the Garrick Theatre in the summer of '67. It's possible they were here before that also, although I'd say it's doubtful, since their first album hadn't even been recorded yet in '65, and I think they mostly played on the West Coast at that point. But, as I said, I wasn't there, and I won't butt heads with you. But I'm going to have to insist that even when you disagree, you be polite. Telling people to "shut it" is rude and uncalled for. So one last time, I'm going to suggest that you enjoy the music and keep your comments civil, OK? Thanks--appreciate your listenership and of course, your military service.

	4:32am pacific standard simon: I've been all over the Beefheart records and tributes and biographies, and my personal opinion is that the tributes are worthless. Some of the Beefheart stuff is awful too, but some of it is the greatest stuff ever. And Beefheart himself might have been another Charlie Manson, if he'd been bent that way.
	4:34am Vincent Nifigance: The Tragic Band material between like 74 and 76 is weak, but it isn't even nearly approaching 'awful'. There are a couple of creamy songs on those I'd rank alongside his best.

I was a child then, so I won't insist that I'm correct, but there are any number of sources that can confirm the Mothers long run at the Garrick Theatre in the summer of '67. It's possible they were here before that also, although I'd say it's doubtful, since their first album hadn't even been recorded yet in '65, and I think they mostly played on the West Coast at that point. But, as I said, I wasn't there, and I won't butt heads with you. But I'm going to have to insist that even when you disagree, you be polite. Telling people to "shut it" is rude and uncalled for. So one last time, I'm going to suggest that you enjoy the music and keep your comments civil, OK? Thanks--appreciate your listenership and of course, your military service.
