Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from November 24, 2017 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

bryce, my comrade...i am reminded of foucault's concept within the first volume of his seminal text(s), the history of sexuality...spirals of power and pleasure...the two are inseparable; the subject's sexual pleasure(s) ceaselessly categorized and medicalized under a late capitalist model...is this perhaps what you are trying to convey with this "gif"?

Phil Corner, there's a story. I was playing 4th trombone with Lighthouse at that time. It was July of '72. We were playing the Mankato Corn Festival, at least, that's how I remember it. We were headlining a bill with The Pozo Seco Singersas the opener. Phil Corber was with Pozo. At that time he had built up a pretty good reputation as a bass player, though later on his career would take a different direction. We met backstage over a couple bottles of Grain Belt beer. Members of the festival staff were serving beefalo burgers from a grill and Bobby Vee was rumored to be on the grounds somewhere. Phil and I got bored after soundcheck caught a ride downtown with a young couple named Jim and Paulette. They left us at the corner of Doyle and Main where there was a little restaurant called Gopher's that all the musicians knew about. You could get a cheeseburger, onion rings and a Dr. Pepper $1.99. You could read the paper and smoke your cigarette while the locals came and went and the waitresses barked their orders to the sweaty cook in the kitchen. Outside it might be raining, or snowing if you had the misfortune of rolling through town in the winter months. Phil had the Farmer's Skillet and coffee. We shared road stories and exchanged phone numbers, but I lost touch with him in the ensuing years. The musician's life is like that. Fleeting friendships that are meaningful but transient, like the passing years themselves.

Bryce:

lyle! so good to hear your old stories about phil corner and those cats.

poor phil hit a string of bad luck a few years back, and he was never quite in the pocket again, if you know what i mean. never gave up music, tho i think his spat with ron shaw ultimately sent him in a less swinging direction:
