When you have the time, and if you are still in a northern mood, there's Glenn Gould's The Idea of North:

or... north, from appalachia (neither north nor south) that moved to the south, then to the far east, back to the south then to the north, and now finally back south again.

Good job passing the fundraiser halfway mark, David. Any plans to come to the US for the Marathon fundraiser next year?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm

Thanks, Parq! And funny you should ask, it has in fact been an idea I've been exploring.

Passed the half way mark, guess that's good (it is 24 days into the month). Boy, the Spring Marathon went so much better.

David D @ 4:26 -- oh, your fans among the volunteers would surely like to meet you in person! Past visits by remote air personalities (Kevin N., Uncle Michael, Vicky, Hearty) have been great occasions.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm

And thanks Doc for heading north here as well. Do you actually have a long commute?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm
Parq:

There's a guy in Scotland -- Tom, I think his name is -- who takes a two week vacation every year and basically lives at the marathon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm
David D:

Well once you make the long journey, it would make sense to make the most of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm

Depends on Traffic in the NY area-when I come here on Saturday mornings, it's about 35 minutes. Most days it's 50 minutes to an hour. Kinda long, I know of longer ones.
Thanks David, maybe catch you in the car.

Gators and those invasive pythons WILL find an open door.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm
Parq:

Invasive Pythons would be a good name for a band. Just saying.
Avatar 6:28pm
northguineahills:

Plenty of Gators in Gainesville (the state highway that goes through Paynes Prairie State Park is still closed due to flooding from Irma, and the Gators love the shallow water on the road), you have to go further south to where my study areas are in the Everglades to find the pythons). Any body of water a hectare or larger will have multiple gators. Even some small sinkholes have some. (thankfully, it's too cold for the mosquito's right now, they need more warmth then the ones up north).

@ Parq - there was Reptilian Mission of Burma, right...?

We've had a couple of coyotes make it into Manhattan. The jokes write themselves.

geezerette:

Late hello, David D. & all.
Loving this wonderful Gillespie set!!!
Avatar 6:46pm
northguineahills:

It's more into how geography shaped the settlement patterns, but closely enough related. It look pricey, but my boss has a University library card, and it should be there until we purchase one (we have other not strictly related books in our library (a quarter of our company library is at my home)

I saw a coyote roadkill this week. 20 years ago, there were no coyotes this far south.

Manteca was the first Dizzy LP I got.

Thanks David and everyone, I need to leave in a few minutes!
