So, "New Girl in School" - I don't know exactly who wrote it, but of the three or four covers I've heard of it, my absolute fave is the version Alex Chilton did on his "A Man Called Destruction" from 1995. Also of note on that album, "What's Your Sign, Girl?" Brilliant.

lkrasner, in around '73-ish, the big AM station in town was throwing out free 7"'s at a drive-in burger joint called the Barrel. I showed up on my Schwinn and picked up a freebie - "Big Star "Big Star" with the B-side being "Big Star" instrumental - no vocals. In 1984 my klepto college roommate stole it...
