Beautiful Boy Sean shares a birthday with the old man -- how 'bout dat? Lennon-Claypool Delirium cover of "Tomorrow Never Knows" seems like a doubly-good selection to play sometime today!
Ever taken the Briggs-Myers personality test? Most people in the U.S. have. Your personality gets categorized according to a combination of attributes based on four types. I think those four types should be the four Beatles.
b wad honest to God I once streamed Trouble's show while I was having a root canal. It helped. I told her all about it, I don't know if she was amused or freaked out.
I dunno what happened to the clicky stars! Did Jeff Conklin take the clicky stars with him when he left? Bring back my clicky stars, dammit! John Lewis was the piano player and ostensible leader of the MJQ, Zuqq.

If you're already a Swag for Live member, consider upping your monthly amount slightly. We really need your help. It's our Into the Black campaign. On accounta we're in the red, you dig? Seriously in the red. If you're not able to give at this time, please just keep listening. But anything you can spare will really help us out. We're literally out of money.
oh no! forgot to request my favorite Lennon song! Don't even know what it might be. Maybe something from his first solo album. Working Class Hero, and like that.
Yes, Mark -- he played guitar and did backing vocals on that one with David in '75.

Yes Fuzzy, my memory was a little fuzzy (pardon the pun). That's the session where they cooked up "Fame," too, I believe. One of the benefits of John living in NY and somebody like David would call and say, "Hey, I'm recording, come on down!"
Oh I can see the hate mail now. I told you I had to make some tough calls. I gave priority to listener requests, some of which were rather odd--but that's the FMU way, isn't it? The odd choice, I mean.
He sounds great on this. Nicky Hopkins also deserves a shout-out for his electric piano solo on "How Do You Sleep?"

I actually haven't listened to "God" in a long time. I'd forgotten how powerful it is, his list of everything he doesn't believe in. Goddamn, he was brilliant (stating the obvious).
Pair this up with the Who track, "The Seeker", for high comedy.

One of the DJs here (I can't remember which one) opined that "You think you're gonna take her away with your money and your cocaine") was one of the best opening lines to a song ever. I don't disagree.
I suspect that Tom had a cocaine problem of his own, at one time. Hence his death at 66.

In the excellent Petty biography by Warren Zanes, he admits to falling into heroin addiction for awhile, too.
wow herion and coke.. knew he parred i saw some pics at end without beard.. man was NOT well.. he was one of my all time favs... what great set TY

Jeff opened with Tom's version of "Feel a Whole Lot Better" on his Avant Ghetto show tonight. I think people have been playing him, maybe not a whole set at a time like this.
I saw Petty when a very young Lenny Kravitz debut record Let love rule was out. he was better than i thought and Petty blew my socks off. Honestly Herioin is not nearly as bad for your organs as cocain or speed. But dosages are very important and never controlled in a rock and roll world ... ahh live fast, amazing, and die sorta old but not really. I'd take that life if I could go again.
REga makes amazing turntables I have a Pro-Ject table, I got it in 2015 Euro Turtable of year. It was very reasonable. Sounds great. I also have a sweet Chrome Magnus tube amp by Rogue. Its the bees knees.. AudioPhile Talk :)
Vandersteen Speakers Series 3 ... Yessszzzzir :) My neighbors and the cops hate me.

"Let Love Rule" was a great record. Speaking of turntables, I have that one on vinyl. You've made me want to play it again. A friend of ours played "I Build This Garden for Us" at our wedding!
Really I was ready to get mocked for Let Love Rule "love" lol but i Fn love that record. It was so great to see him do it live. Lol "do it live" .. it was though.. i was so hyped on that record. And Tom petty.. that was too much. Tom petty knew how talented Kravitz was right.. visionary.
I build this garden was my favorite song. now I wanna Hear it lol

I have a Hegel H80 amplifier, their bottom-of-the-line amp. A Danish company, I believe. Like the turntable, it's very minimalist in design and I love it. The audio guy told me to just leave it turned on all the time, it's actually better to have it warmed up. That was a new one on me.

Lenny suffered from that malady of being too good and getting too popular too fast, and now it's fashionable to hate him. I have to admit I'm only familiar with his first couple records, after that I just kinda lost track.
