It's amazing, Cecile.

Hi Duane listening live today, have had to catch yo on archive for a couple there, but always the highest qualitay, last week was particularly sweet and the mixing was tight sir :)

@Cecile - If they're talking about it so much, they're probably not doing it. Also: dissatisfaction is a great driver of creativity, as long as you don't let it stop you!

Duane, have you heard the 33 minute version of "Do Your Thing?"

nice, yes
Avatar 12:20pm
Cecile:

I think I don't relate to the accountant mindset at all, although I'm not horrible with money. You just cannot make a mistake ever. And yet, they still get snowed by con people talking a fast line. I work surrounded by accountants and engineers. It is like we are from different planets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm

Damn, this is a nice thing to arrive to!

Polyus:

This band is so good. Bar-Kays?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
chris:

i call BS on them Cecile. most truly successful, innovative engineers are terrified they will be exposed for the frauds they are (of course, confidence propels them away from acting or not acting in fear). there is *always* someone better or who knows more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm
chris:

accountants can be cool, but mostly, nope, in my experience.

Avatar 12:25pm
kwhitehead:

It's a shame this collection isn't on vinyl. Impractical, for sure. But still.
Avatar 12:26pm
Cecile:

I had a class listing with "and", but I didn't have enough room on my publicity flyer to put "and" so I put an ampersand. So, now I am completely redesigning something so that a stupid "and" can fit in there. People might get confused, they say.

Never mind this flyer has been used for years and plenty of people figured it out. It's so petty.
Avatar 12:27pm
Cecile:

And this last six months has just been days and days of virtual ampersands.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm
Mick:

This is crazy good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
Rich in Washington:

I feel your pain, Cecile. I think there's this ampersand backlash, perhaps because of its sometimes necessary overuse on social platforms. I've been told the same thing - that people might not understand it or find it unnecessarily informal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm
Uncle Michael:

I think this *is* the recently discovered jam that takes 19.5 minutes to 33.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm
Michael 98145:

@C, that's a bit anal & asinine &c.
Avatar 12:31pm
Duane:

Uncle Michael: Yup!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm

I'm also finding that I'm increasingly working with academicians who, among other things, have pedantic arguments about Oxford commas, think crap designed in Powerpoint is acceptable, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm
Uncle Michael:

After the scratch ending on the long "Shaft" version, Duane?
Avatar 12:32pm

This is worth the price of admission for the Ike box - high on my "to buy" list!
Avatar 12:32pm

Uncle Michael: The very one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
chris:

ugh, that sounds maddening, Cecile. is day-drinking out of the question?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
Uncle Michael:

Very cool...this is my first hearing. I played the long cut from Shaft last Friday.
Avatar 12:34pm
Cecile:

Powerpoint is fine IF you import good stuff from other programs and keep it clean. People don't. They kind of think I'm the savior because I actually insisted on retouching photos carefully, and not blowing up photos to make a fake head shot.

chris, I wish. I just have to get some kind of spine and get some confidence and find something to do for the next 6 years before I retire.

@Duane - didn't hear that Dionne track, had a meeting, so I showed up to class late. Since it's 1973 and I think Invictus Records (Holland-Dozier-Holland's label) was still around, is the rest of the record in the Invictus wheelhouse?
