All aboard.

Howdy, David!
Lots of election analysis over here. Hope things work out well, sounds a bit scary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm
David D:

Hey, Parq and geezerette! Yes, I'll be getting to some of that in the first break, I think...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm
David D:

First, it's Alla saying goodbye to summer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
Stanley:

Our trains were cancelled one Autumn for 'leaves on the track'. I kid you not.
Wie geht's David?
Avatar 4:07pm
northguineahills:

I could use some nice Russian this afternoon... (doesn't that mean farewell?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm
David D:

Greetings Stanley and NGH! До свиданья, лето is Alla's farewell to summer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm
Parq:

Is it nice in Leipzig yet? In the northeastern US, especially in its cities, it remains very (some might say unpleasantly) summery in September. Nowadays I wait for October to put away the summer-weight clothes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm
David D:

Very nice early autumn day today here - overcast but just warm enough for the wind to be pleasant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm
Sem Chumbo:

Hello, David, and Subway riders. Is a manspreading ban in effect here?
Asking for a friend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
David D:

Hello Sem, all are welcome to be comfortable in their own virtual way!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
doctorjazz:

Hey, Germany did better than the US did in the election as far as the right went, though it is a but worrisome there (as it is everywhere...)
Hi David, Good evening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm
David D:

Good evening, Doc - will definitely share a few thoughts on the matter...
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 4:13pm
Brian in UK:

Hello David and rythmn riders. Warm Autumn day today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm
David D:

Evening, Brian! Quite comfortable here too today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm
Stanley:

Hi Brian, balmy up here, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm
David D:

Mir geht's gut, Stanley, danke, und dir? No leaf obstructions reported tonight...
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 4:17pm
Brian in UK:

What ho, Stanley. Bit more relaxed this week?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm
Stanley:

Yes, Brian. Met my deadlines and now finishing at 5pm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm
Sem Chumbo:

Here in Canada's Ocean Playground, 30C and Humidex at 39. Abnormal x 1000.
Has the sun moved closer, I wonder?
Avatar 4:22pm

Sem, same thing in L.A.!

Dean:

That Kollaa Kestää was a cover of Magazine's "Shot By Both Sides."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm
Sem Chumbo:

Damn, I was gonna vacation there to get out of the frying pan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm
Parq:

Oh man, I wait all year for that light-sweater fall weather. Of course, in NYC, we get maybe four of those days, and then straight to cold weather.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm
Uncle Michael:

Napping and listening, David.
  4:24pm
melinda:

Hi all
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 4:27pm
Brian in UK:

David, what was the turnout percentage?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm
Parq:

Comparing the reaction you just described to the utter, pants-pissing horror that greeted a little more than half the US on the morning after our election day, I have to agree with Doc Jazz that you guys didn't have it so bad. Not to say that everything's okay over your way, but it's kind of like comparing Florida to Dominica.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm
David D:

Hey Melinda and Uncle Michael - and thanks, Dean!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm
Stanley:

One way or another it's happening all over. Here in Britain the previously centre-right Conservative Party has gone full tilt to the right and absorbed the UKIP (nationalist) vote.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm
David D:

Parq: Absolutely - in many ways, but it is something new here to have a party way to the right in parliament.
Avatar 4:31pm

Herbstliche Grüße, Hilmar!
Avatar 4:34pm
geezerette:

Agree with Stanley, it's a global trend. Gnarly. Austerity measures have certainly not helped.
There are worrisome echoes of the early 1930s.
Avatar 4:37pm
hilmar:

your autumn sounds quite friendly...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm

Here's to a friendly fall!

A customer just noticed the sounds coming out if my speakers and asked if I'm a music buff. Heehee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm
David D:

Melinda, the customer is certainly right in this case!
Avatar 5:04pm
geezerette:

Lovely recording!
  5:06pm
melinda:

@geeze the word 'buff' makes me chuckle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm
David D:

Or was that a compliment for me, Melinda - in which case, thanks!
  5:08pm
melinda:

David you should consider it a compliment.
Avatar 5:08pm

Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 5:11pm
Brian in UK:

Cool set but so is Autumn in both senses.
Avatar 5:12pm
geezerette:

David, and each one funny in its own way.
  5:14pm
melinda:

'Buff' seems quaint now. I think younger people would call themselves nerds instead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm
David D:

Thanks, Brian, on behalf of the set and the season
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm
David D:

Good question, though: How we feel about the cooler days of the season. I'm a bit ambivalent.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 5:18pm
Brian in UK:

Are Buff Medways a breed of chicken?
Avatar 5:19pm
geezerette:

Most of my friends love many kinds of music but I know a couple of people who never listen to it. One of them says he's strictly visual.
  5:20pm
melinda:

I'm ambivalent about cooler days too. I've always liked the onset of autumn but the cold winters that follow are getting old.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm
Stanley:

In the buff?
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 5:24pm
Brian in UK:

Autumn sunlight is special. Not so keen to show off like the hot Summer cousin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm
doctorjazz:

Like this Esrare Deyir...
  5:28pm
melinda:

I do like the autumn light. Makes the unseasonably warm days easier to take.
  5:30pm
melinda:

@stanley being naked is the worst part of winter. Bundling up is fine but changing clothes and showering in a house that's not very warm sucks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm
Stanley:

melinda- I can only agree.
Avatar 5:38pm
hilmar:

last weekend i was in fläming (its the mountains next to berlin) and there was a sauna in the forest...thats a way to manage the problem of being naked and being cold (as the finnish folk subway could probably agree .....
Avatar 5:41pm
geezerette:

The winter light in L.A. is very white and strong. Colors and shadows are clear and sharp. It's wonderful.

...to saunas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm
David D:

Absolutely! That is the tried-and-true way to get through the autumn and winter with the pores open and happy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm
David D:

Hilmar: Was the sauna next to a lake?
  5:42pm
Dean:

I remember flying into L.A.X. on Christmas day following a heavy rain. The panorama was stunning, not least because I'd lived there for 40 years not far from the foothills to the east, which were usually shrouded in smog.
Avatar 5:43pm
hilmar:

sadly no lake, only a regentonne (rain ton?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm
David D:

A barrel of fresh rain to jump in?
Avatar 5:45pm
hilmar:

hopefully fresh rain! in a barrel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm

Thoroughly enjoyed your show, and the comments from all on the board, David October here on the east coast of Canada is my flat out my favourite month of the year. I live on a tidal estuary and the quality of light on the water in the 10th month can be indescribably beautiful. See you and all next time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm

Thanks, Sem! And that sounds beautiful - are you in the Maritimes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm

Me: This sounds familiar. <looks up, sees it's Moondog > Oh yeah, of course.
Avatar 6:34pm
geezerette:

That was ecstatic music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm
Parq:

Moondog was regarded his whole performing life in the US as a novelty-act oddball. When he moved to Germany, he was revered as an accomplished and influential composer. Not surprisingly, he never looked back.
