	7:58am Threemoons: Hey, in Astoria, they are going to CLOSE my subway stop from THE END OF OCTOBER THROUGH JUNE. As in totally close it. And it's to install crap like WiFi on the platforms--ALL OF THE N LINE is above ground, we don't NEED WiFi! In the meantime, the station--like ALL of the Astoria N/W--is NOT ADA compliant, and there are NO immediate plans to put in an elevator. Also, they had NO subway service on weekends ALL SUMMER to do "critical repairs"--WTF where they DOING all summer? So, I'm looking at an extra 15-20 minute walk to the train every AM, through snow, slush, crappily-shoveled sidewalks (if at all), etc. Oh, it gets better. There are NO plans for shuttle buses, or increased local buses. As alternatives, we are supposed to use the new ferry (are you fucking kidding me? It's a 40 minute walk just to the ferry for me), walk to the R line at Steinway (ditto RE 40 minute minimum), CitiBike (yeah, Grandma is gonna do that in the slush/rain/snow, ditto for folks in suits, those with small kids, and those who just can't bike like me--I walk everywhere), and green cabs (yeah right, super affordable--NOT). So yeah, they picked the worst time of year to do this after years of alleged "critical updates" and closing stairwells/lobbies/closing down weekends for years. I hate the MTA.

And it's to install crap like WiFi on the platforms--ALL OF THE N LINE is above ground, we don't NEED WiFi! In the meantime, the station--like ALL of the Astoria N/W--is NOT ADA compliant, and there are NO immediate plans to put in an elevator. Also, they had NO subway service on weekends ALL SUMMER to do "critical repairs"--WTF where they DOING all summer? So, I'm looking at an extra 15-20 minute walk to the train every AM, through snow, slush, crappily-shoveled sidewalks (if at all), etc. Oh, it gets better. There are NO plans for shuttle buses, or increased local buses. As alternatives, we are supposed to use the new ferry (are you fucking kidding me? It's a 40 minute walk just to the ferry for me), walk to the R line at Steinway (ditto RE 40 minute minimum), CitiBike (yeah, Grandma is gonna do that in the slush/rain/snow, ditto for folks in suits, those with small kids, and those who just can't bike like me--I walk everywhere), and green cabs (yeah right, super affordable--NOT). So yeah, they picked the worst time of year to do this after years of alleged "critical updates" and closing stairwells/lobbies/closing down weekends for years. I hate the MTA.
