Greetings from Lancaster County, Pa.! Where the internet is powered by squirrel wheel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Doug Schulkind:

Howdy, Little Danny! Parq! Uncle Michael! Mother Maggie! Lancaster squirrels!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Jeff Golick:

Speaking of, read this recently: "Brando was only answering the door when the pizza man came. This was the best news that the pizza-makers of Cairns, this small town, had ever had because Brando was consuming industrial quantities of pizza while ruminating on what the hell he was going to do when he had to face the cameras. I think there might have been an existential terror there.” Via: www.theguardian.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Little Danny:

@Maggie B: oh shit, grew up in nearby Hershey. Lancaster was like some cultural refuge for me and my weirdo friends growing up

Hiccups. Now hearing Willie Nelson.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Rich in Washington:

I think we lost you, Doug.
  12:17pm frenchee:

what Jeff said.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Parq:

Jeff G, at that point, Brando was a long way away from being hero worshiped as "Him" by Ronnie Burns and his girlfriend (ie, their characters) on the Burns & Allen TV show.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Artie:

I understand that the pizza in Cairns is just stella.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Jeff Golick:

Think we're back in Cuba.
Avatar 12:18pm bobdoesthings:

jeff golick - hiccups in the stream ?? me too.. why does the alt streams always suffer when a new show begins.. seems to happen fairly regularly.. I also find that sometimes I refresh and it will somehow start playing the beginning of a show, before its even been archived.. bizarre..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Parq:

This is kind of fun, actually.
  12:19pm frenchee:

@bobdoesthings: I think they're trying to keep it under wraps, but WFMU actually is a portal...ooops I spilled the beans!
  12:19pm Alex in Illinois:

It was polka time for a few seconds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Doug Schulkind:

Been having connection problems the last few weeks. I tried something different this week to combat the previous problems. Didn't work. I think I need to reboot my router again. (I'll do it later.)

Hey, frenchee! and Artie! and Rich in WA!

And thanks for hipping me to the snafu.
Avatar 12:20pm bobdoesthings:

thanks @frenchee.. is your name a reference to The Forbidden Zone? I have a huge crush on frenchee whenever I watch that movie.

This Spanish music prompts me to report that Limon/Pepino Gatorade is insanely good.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Brian in UK:

Had no connection problems, probably because I was out of the room.

Like to stay above the lime if possible and see it floating in the glass.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Doug Schulkind:

Marc Ribot's kid went to the elementary school the next neighborhood over. He did fundraising concerts for the PTA and such. Over there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Uncle Michael:

A friend ranted on Facebook earlier this week about a book he was reading in which Ribot's band is never referred to as "Los Cubanos Postizos," but only as The Prosthetic Cubans. Copy Editor gone berserk!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Jeff Golick:

That *IS* cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Doug Schulkind:

Most copy editors (speaking as a professional) are never all that far from berserk, Uncle Michael.

I ran the NYC marathon in 1998. I had letters stuck to my shirt, so people could shout my name and encourage me to keep going (I needed it). One of my EFFs fell off at some point during the race, and I later heard, "Go, Jef with one F!" All to say, Jef Gilson and I are pretty much related.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Doug Schulkind:

You ran the marathon? That's antastic!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:29pm doctorjazz:

Got here in time for some free jazz, sounds a bit like my cantor! Hi drumma's

Avatar 1:38pm hyde:

my internet sleuthing brings up discussion of Jean Luc Ponty on the Feb 12 2012 GTDS chat, a day you also played Chant Inca!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Doug Schulkind:

See! It's the only time I've played Ponty. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Doug Schulkind:

Obamacare repeal is dead once again thanks for John McCain (who is getting all the credit even though Susan Collins came out against it earlier in the day).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Jeff Golick:

...and McCain seemingly opposed on process grounds, rather than on the things (utter lack of) merit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Jeff Golick:

*thing's (it's an armadillo killer)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Jeff Golick:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Doug Schulkind:

Anything up your D:O sleeve, Jeff?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Jeff Golick:

Uh...sorta? Nothing major. Last week also saw birthdays of Muhal Richard Abrams and Billy Bang, so there's a lot of love to spread around.
