I popped around during the whole show, so it's not a 3-hr tribute. (The second to last set is NOT William-related, but the last song is and I believe my talking ahead of it is.) I had been involved in a benefit compilation after William was in the hospital in December. When William passed, a number of these people reached out to see what they could do. On this show I read memories written to me from several bands who played on MCOQ, or who had releases on his Prison Tatt label. Lots of recollections, and recordings from the show and the label. I started the show right away with some William-related music. There are some really good memories in there. I would say 55% of the show is Berger-related.

I aired a portion of the radio greats weekend show featuring William. He plays live sessions, marathon promos, themes, live sessions, skits, etc. We talk about WFMU in the 80's and it's really nice to hear Berger talking about his love for the station before My Castle of Quiet brought him back to the airwaves.
Rich Hazelton (Sept. 16)

The full show is a tribute to William and the music he’s played over the years (though far more Hip Bone as that’s when I first met him). I talk about him a little bit, but the music is mostly, bands he’s played over the years. The show starts with an hourlong raga by Pandit Pran Nath, and that’s one of my earliest memories of when I followed The Hip Bone and William had LaMonte Young and Marain Zazeela in to discuss Pran Nath. Then there’s Krautrock and Black Sabbath and Earth and Birthday Party, and more.
Scott Williams (Sept. 18)

I've been paying tribute to William Berger on the radio for 20 years. Today marks the sad occasion I'll have to do so explicitly.
