I kind of knew most of that, but it wasn't evident in his manner enough to make him inaccessible or intimidating. He was my best friend at WFMU, even though I'm not a music geek and didn't know most of what he played at all, nor did I know about most of his horror movie references. He let me hang out with him during his shows a bunch, just because we were cool with each other. We'd always end up talking in his car parked across from my building for an extra 45 minutes after his show.
He was such a cool guy, in so many ways. Just.... really genuine and utterly himself.
