Early hellos! This copy editor is looking forward to Bruce's semantic breakdown.

Here we go!

Proud to report the person who intro'd me to Lenny Bruce was my mom! (Also the "Hair" soundtrack. Both in middle school!)

listener james from westwood:

After I and my friends stumbled across the cartoon animated to accompany his "Thank You Masked Man," on a video compilation of other "adult comics" waaaaaay before YouTube, we were able to crack one another up for years after by dropping lines from that skit.

Sem Chumbo:

Well, dang. Missed Lenny. Had some of his routines memorized in my callow youth. Religions Incorporated still comes to me at odd moments.
Along for the duration, I'll sit in the back, quietly, DW. Hiya, ljfromw.

Hey James and Chumbo, the Carnegie Hall concert is probably my fave; the backstory is fabulous and stories amazing.

Hi!

listener james from westwood:

@Sem: The record my mom intro'd me to Lenny with was, indeed, the one w/ that bit. "Yes, I'm dumb! I've got two Lincoln Continentals, that's h' goddamn dumb _I_ am!"

Doctorjazz! We've got Daniel Carter later today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm
doctorjazz:

Right up my alley! (digging this Shelly Hirsch, Bernstein/Smith set in the meantime...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm
Jeff Golick:

Got a surprise dose of Daniel Carter last week, when he opened (with Loren Connors) for Mount Eerie. Hoping someone taped it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm
Jeff Golick:

Also: hello.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:28pm
weinstein:

Well. Loren Connors is on this one today with him. And hello!

listener james from westwood:

Jeff! Caught your last in the archives. Sorry that past week and change had been such a siege of mortality. Hoping this one's brought bluer skies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
Jeff Golick:

Noice!

And thanks very much, @listener james. The mortality rate in my immediate vicinity has thankfully slowed (though I'm sure that's little solace to: Houston, Florida, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, etc etc etc.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm
doctorjazz:

Heading out, try to catch some more in the car!
(Hi Jeff! Was away, saw the last show was cancelled, hope nothing too bad, sounds that way from James' comment. Hope things have settled a bit).

Chris Mann strikes a "calmer Adam Curtis" note.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm

Mann sounding rather like Alan Watts....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm

I like to wear a bay leaf under each arm. Who doesn't like the aroma of soup?
Hiya, Stanley.

I wanted to mention one line from the Chris Mann piece just because it resonated with me so completely: "Off is a medium".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm

This has been an ear-opener for me. Thank you, DW, will be back next time.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:53pm

Thank you! Jazz is right tho, this one was a little off our usual raucous edgey collection, but we embrace all!
