Favoriting September 13, 2017: Live music from MONK PARKER!
Simmering in the fertile musical casserole of Austin, Texas, Monk Parker returns to WFMU to bring his shimmering, eloquent songs on today's episode of 100% Whatever. At times haunting and mournful, with guitar, organ and horns washing over each other in a reverb sea, it’s the perfect sound of twilight; those hours just before the sky goes completely black. Currently on tour to promote his second album, “Crown Of Sparrows,” released on August 4th on Grand Jury Music; I'm thrilled to have him back on the show!

Hello. Passing on my sympathies for those who knew DJ Wm. Berger.

Hi Ken and Jake!

Thanks, Ken, we are all pretty upset around here about it.

William Berger’s passing is definitely sad. To my knowledge, no details are being shared just yet. But William was not exactly shy about the fact he was suffering from some health problems the past few years and possibly longer.

I hope he’s at peace wherever he is. Great guy.

Just read above about William Berger, so sorry!
He was an important part of the station's DNA.
Condolences to family and friends.

That Apple album title dislocates me in time: I see it on a wax cylinder. While reading it I'm twirling my handlebar mustache, idly wondering whether the bottom has really fallen out of the buggy whip market.

Hi Stanley and glenn! Great to have you here today!

I'm not sure why Gary spelled it LeFrak; that threw me for a moment, heh.

Got to be one of the best classic-rock singles ever.

Oh, and "Nun With A Chainsaw" would be a good name for a band. Am I right?

Isn't LeFrak City correct? Housing complex (don't call it a project!) in Corona?
Avatar 2:13pm
glenn:

prolly. she and her lawyer husband have a nice old big house.
Avatar 2:15pm
Mary Wing:

I don't know, David! I don't think I've ever, ever seen it spelled out, ever. LeFrak looks so weird to me, though.

This Sister Hazel kicks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
ⓘⓚⓔ:

LeFrak is correct! I would not be surprised if some of the pirates that interfere with FMU are located there. Corona is a pirate hotbed, and they like to set up shop in tall apt. buildings to get the signal out from as great a height as possible.
Avatar 2:21pm
Mary Wing:

Hi there, Parq! It does, yes.

I can see that, Ike, especially since there aren't too many really tall buildings in the boroughs (yet).

I like these covers with the guitar god licks sucked out of them!

Having the name Scout Niblett pretty much pushes you in the direction of the entertainment business, as opposed to say, the Supreme Court. Although we did have a Whizzer White. So I guess anything goes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm
Sem Chumbo:

I wonder if the Niblett parents considered "Boo" rather than "Scout".
"Atticus" would have been too out there, I suppose.

Hi fred, and Mark, too! Howya doin'?
