One of my earliest memories too is also of Steely Dan's music <3 It was a favorite of American expats in Japan

Steely Dan: Never the same band twice. Larry Carlton turned the "Peg" riff into an entire song (Room 335).

Duane, thanks !!! A classic from Roy Ayers. Still have and love my vinyl

I think you played an interesting Terrence Parker song several weeks ago that sampled "Aja".

This Ice track is sick! I was just looking at The Royal Scam last night and noted that Becker and Fagen gave Paul Griffin co-writing credit on The Fez - I guess that clavinet is all him!

I bet Prince Paul would have something to say about the passing of Becker. He definitely mined some SD for De La. Also, this live cut is killer.

To me, Steely Dan is the sound of riding in my dad's car as a kid-- all their albums are fully ingrained in my subconscious. Amazing how unmistakable their songwriting is, even when covered by someone else.

Rare Earth played at a Homecoming in Bethalto Illinois ~2001. Bethalto is not a large town. It's barely a small town. Everybody there was like, "WTF, where'd these guys come from?" Apparently it was some friend/relative thing that happened while they were on their way from point A to B.
