markr:

Yes, so Bill Kelly informed me yesterday morning, Simon. Sounds good, Simon. Come January, we'll all be praying for a little warmth, I'm sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43am

Ah well, I work in a bakery, so I get all the heat I need, even in January.

I've been sharing WFMU with my co-workers lately. Some were particularly interested in Uncle Michael's 'hits of 1976' show.

I have some Martinu chamber music somewhere, but I've never heard any symphonies. Your comments, Mark, make me wonder how this one is different from the others.
  4:10am
jay dee:

Nice one, girlfriend shows up and plays a cd of a symphony.

hello Mark R.
i like this Martinu and i quite liked "goddess sparkle", which was most of my sound track to driving home.
  4:19am
markr:

Glad you're enjoying, Coel. Simon, Martinu himself said it was unlike any of his other symphonies--I believe he was referring to its structure (but I ain't no classical expert or nothin').

I seem to have an affinity for Czech composers -- Leoš Janáček and Jaroslav Ježek, for example.
  4:26am
markr:

I have I think one Janácek recording, not familiar with Jezek
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42am
pacific standard simon:

Ježek is pretty obscure because he died young. I got lucky and found a CD in a thrift store.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46am

Ha! As timely today as ever.

Yep unfortunately.

Bought a clarinet at a rummage sale. Haven't had time to explore it much, yet. Seems to work fine.

I don't know what happened to Steely Dan after this album, but it was the last one that I loved unconditionally.

Now this is a proper set of Monday morning songs. Bleak, bleaker, bleakest. Good work!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29am

Totally works for me. Of course, it's my Friday night and I'm dead tired.

Oh, don't get me wrong here, I ain't complaining. I ❤️ bleak.

Is this the first solo McCartney song?
  5:38am
markr:

Probably "Yesterday" was first, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38am
pacific standard simon:

I don't think there are any other Beatles on it.
  5:39am

They were all singing, though.

...Thanks Mark, i'm out.

And to think, The Monkees got slagged like H-E-double-hockey-sticks for just singing on their stuff.

Thanks Coel!

I was listening to "Here Comes The Sun", and I couldn't tell if John and Ringo were on that track at all. Sounded like Paul might have been playing drums and synth.

Thanks for tuning in everyone, see you next week!
