My favorite Konono N°1 show took place outdoors on a hot summer day. I saw them with a much better sound on other occasions, but that free show in a park seemed more appropriate, with people who didn't know them at all just drawn in by the sound. Alas, those free shows are not happening these days, for "security reasons"

Sad to say, Lucinda has rerecorded Sweet Old World. Funnily, I played it the other night, what a beauty. Gurf and band are tops and her singing is spot on. Those days, compassion and caring were palpable in her song writing.
Now her voice is shot in my opinion. Why would you. Money, I hear you say.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Doug Schulkind:

@Brian in UK
When my little family goes on long car trips, we bring a go-to box of CDs (we just can't switch to MP3s, it seems) and many Lucinda discs are in the box. The most recent of the batch is Essence. After that record (and the departure of Gurf, as well) I things went in a direction I find harder to adore.

Peak Lucinda + Gurf is the song "Sundays" recorded live on KCRW radio. It appears on the self-titled Koch compilation.
