I've got an internet friend, Sarah Horrocks, who is a transwoman who makes wierdo comics and writes articles about obscure films. She lives in Oklahoma, and I find it bizarre. However, I guess living there is cheap enough that you can be an artist and have the time to work on your art while also having enough money to survive.

Unlike NYC.

Jon. Chicago's public transit system has suffered greatly over the years from lack of maintenance and cost-cutting. It's working better now but it still sucks in many ways. The CTA treats their workers like burdens, costs.
Avatar 5:36pm
Mary Wing:

Nobody ever mentions all the advertising revenue that the MTA gets--there is advertising on EVERYTHING in the subways, the buses, the bus shelters, even the damn Metrocards have advertising on them! Where's all THAT money going?

(Great show, Jonathan)

A while back, I was trying to figure the price of advertising at MTA subway stops based on geographical location (just out of curiosity and I worked for a company that had a valid reason to ask), . Yes, that revenue is insane.

Um it's very costly to run that large and old a system 24/7. It works surprisingly well, till there's a fire in a tunnel or a trapped train. I remember crossing from the express 7th Ave to the platform I think at around 50th St? 'Cause the train broke down, no air etc...this was back in the 80's
