Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm

re: sammy davis jr -- having never found the Ray Charles 45 'Mess Around', the Sammy Davis Jr cover (decca?) works in a pinch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm
Funky16Corners:

I'm still trying to pt my hands on his vocal version of the Hawaii 5-0 theme, 'You Can Count On Me'

Always did love this sentimental Beachmen song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm

Which one? Their Hearts... or God Only Knows?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm
melinda:

God Only Knows is such a great song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
Funky16Corners:

Yes. At times I'd say profoundly good

Doug Schulkind:

F16C! Sounding great up here in Maine, though your overall mix does seem quite low. Can you pump of the volume?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm
Funky16Corners:

Just boosted it a bit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
Funky16Corners:

Though this is a long, quiet track, let's see how it goes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm
Doug Schulkind:

I have everything boosted to the max on my machine, and it's pretty quiet. Absolutely audible and diggable, but could be louder.
  10:57pm
cupcakejenny:

Oh, it's the story of tiny funky16corners!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm
Funky16Corners:

Yes indeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm
Funky16Corners:

Doug, how about now?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm
Doug Schulkind:

Better now, but could be louder.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm
Funky16Corners:

Hmmmmm...let me see what I can do.
Avatar 11:04pm
geezerette:

Perfect song to drift to dream land on.

Night Geezerette!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
Doug Schulkind:

Levels are good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm
Parq:

F16C @ 10:37 -- I was referring to Their Hearts, but if there's anyone who doesn't love God Only, please keep that person the hell away from me.

That was a terrific set. Just great. Michael Shelley, who seems to be the ranking Beachmen fan at FMU, as well as Dave the Spazz, who originated the expression "Beachmen", should really, really hear that set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm
Funky16Corners:

I'm glad you like it. I get a little deeper into the Beachmen every day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm
JtotheK:

reminds me, i still have to watch John Cusack (and Paul Dano) as Beach Boy in "Love & Mercy" ... did recently watch a doc about Pet Sounds which was good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm
Funky16Corners:

I haven't seen it either and I want to. I liked the Pet Sounds doc
  11:19pm
melinda:

I liked Love
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm
Funky16Corners:

I hear lots of good things about it
  11:21pm
melinda:

And Mercy. My old app cuts off text after ampersands, dammit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm
Funky16Corners:

Believe it or not, this is the same guy that did the Taxi theme
Avatar 11:26pm
northguineahills:

and he also did an album w/ Robert Ashley and Gordon Mumma ("Explosions")
Avatar 11:27pm
northguineahills:

Turning in, thanks Larry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm
Funky16Corners:

Thanks for listening! Have a good night!
  11:28pm
melinda:

I can hear the Taxi theme similarity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm
Funky16Corners:

That electric piano comes through
  11:29pm
melinda:

I especially liked the recording studio scenes in L and M. Nice depiction of process.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm
Funky16Corners:

I'll be watching for that. I was thinking this week about guys that either worked with, or followed in the footsteps of Phil Spector and the Wall of Sound and of all of them, Brian really took the ideas and built something new with them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm
JtotheK:

enjoyed the show - thanks Larry!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm
Funky16Corners:

Thanks!
