All you need is three chords and the monte (hall, even if the party was at Union Pool)

Good morning, Nate. Let's torch the place!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04am

I liked that School Damage track. It kinda reminded me of Kathleen Hanna's solo Julie Ruin record

There's a Seldom Scene/Linda Ronstadt "Silver Wings" out there somewhere that's all that and more.

Sure thing Nate!

It has been opined that the oppressive nature of Texas society helped to nurture the Texas sixties garage scene. Meaning that it created the need to rebel and the rebellion often found musical form.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04am
Nate K.:

@Todd, that makes sense. Explains the Elevators, too, and maybe why TX punk was a little stranger (Big Boys, Dicks, etc.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06am
ultradamno:

Butthole Surfers, Scratch Acid. I can't of much Fort Worth hardcore, Houston had Really Red.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07am

..can't think of...

Hey Nate & All....cool info on the Groovies! Speaking of Texas 70s punk rock..I defer to the Bloodstains Across for all kinds of obscurities.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21am
Nate K.:

@DoJuan, yes, those are essential.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26am
fred:

Weren't the Geto Boys also from TX? There might be a lot of truth to Todd's theory
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27am
ultradamno:

^Yes. Houston

Bummer on Paul canceling. Here's hoping he can come make it back soon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37am

Speaking of Texas, wasn't International Artists to some degree, a tax dodge or money laundering thing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40am
ultradamno:

I remember the description of what was going on in the book Eye Mind made it seem shady.

thx Nate gg
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49am
fred:

@ultradamno: I didn't know that about International Artists! You mean the old record label? It probably wouldn't be the first or only one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51am
ultradamno:

^Yeah. It wasn't quite what Nate described, just dumping the product in a warehouse. But there was very little distribution or seeming inclination to promote the only two acts they had.

Dallas had a strong new wave/punk scene when i lived there in 79-80. Saw Nervebreakers, B-52s et al. in Oaklawn clubs and the cowboy boiot and spiked hair factions would mix at Joe King Carrosco shows.
