Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from July 28, 2017 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

The most absurd thing about FCC restrictions is that they won't spell them out. You can't play "indecent" or "obscene" material from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., or "obscene" material from 10-6. What do "indecent" and "obscene" mean? Who the fuck even knows!

@greenlight: I just moved to FL (grew up here) from NYC (after 16 years) for cost of living issues (and employment). I have a degree in history but rarely came back to it in any meaningful context until I had freetime from being underemployed. My academic focus was on Balkan history, but history of any period or geographic locale interests me. I just happen to also have a BA and a MA in geography as well, which pays the bills.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
Passaic River Blues:

@NGH: Have you read Patrick Leigh Fermor's books "A Time of Gifts" and "Between the Woods and the Water"? In them Fermor recounts when he hitchhiked from Holland to the Balkans when he was 18 or 19 in the early 30s. The Mitteleuropa sections are the best part.

@PRB: Now I have something else to add to my already bloated reading queue. At least my new commute will only be under 10 mins, so, I'll have more time to read. !930s Europe fascinates me...

Passaic River Blues:

@NGH: Hear that--my book backlog is becoming insane. The Fermor books are pretty good. He comes off as a precocious gentleman traveler, rubs elbows with many elite landowners, faded gentry, but also interacts with the hoi polloi and gives a real sense of places, languages, landscapes. What's also interesting is the absence of a lot of the political tension you'd expect given the time period.
