Fairly certain I would pick this one (Anan) up for the "cover art" alone.

The bottle ruined me. By that I mean that Hotel Mein Botal song. Every time a sad song or bottle ballad comes on I get that corny song stuck in my ear instead.

Has any artist ever gone so dramatically from one end of the "pop" spectrum to the other? Can we hold out hope that any current pop stars might follow the same path?
Avatar 10:56am
PKNY:

Yes, Millie! For those that aren't familiar w/ this, you're in for a treat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am

I think I figured out who the real culprit is in this song....
Avatar 10:58am

Marianne Faithfull made a pretty extreme turn. I can possibly see Gaga going that route.

I remember when that photoshopped pic surfaced of Paris Hilton holding a copy of Trout Mask Replica just before her album came out, and I was REALLY hoping we were about to see an artistic reveal of Andy Kaufman proportions.

Also, of current pop stars, Kesha's association with the Residents could be a good sign of things to come...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am
Marcel M:

Regarding Ke$ha/Residents: "Some fans think its an outrage...Others, like John H. Felix, don’t see a problem. “Fans of a band who have been maniacally appropriating pop culture for their own needs complain about musician appropriating band for her own needs, film at 11,” Felix posted."

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14am

@Marcel Ha! From what I gather, the Residents (or at least their "representatives") contacted her after that performance and they reconciled-- she even has some talking-head footage in their documentary!

i saw Jon-Mikl Thor at the world premiere of the "sequel" to Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare. The movie was terrible (and not fun-terrible like the original), but Thor still had it. He even bent a steel bar on stage with his teeth!

I knew about Priest's version of this song long before I was really aware it was a cover and long long long before I knew it was about Dylan. Ever since I learned that the JP version makes me giggle a bit when I hear it.

It's the torch song Rob was born to sing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am

@Itzall Agreed, that's much different from anything else I've heard. I mostly know them from Rock & Roll Nightmare, the RIDICULOUS horror movie they made in the '80s. If you haven't seen it, well... youtu.be...
