Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from July 14, 2017 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

I'm baffled why, in 2013, someone would release a quiet synth record like this one on vinyl...I'm mean why add crackle if you don't have to?!?!?
Avatar 12:54pm

I've been listened to a fair amount of Pitre lately - but have never heard any of the Pitreleh combo work - thanks for playing Bryce!

@Bryce: Have any foley artists released records?
Avatar 1:12pm
Bryce:

that's a good question! oh man, that's what i've secretly always wanted to be....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm
Greg from ZONE 5:

RIGHT?! I've been watching tons of YouTube videos lately of people slapping things and stepping on stuff…

PS The Ark of the Covenant opening in Raiders of the Lost Ark was the lid of a toilet tank :D
Avatar 1:15pm
Bryce:

hahaaa that's amazing
Avatar 1:16pm
Bryce:

every time i've tried to look for how to get into the field, i come across an interview with a foley artist, saying, "forget it, you can't."

:(
Avatar 1:18pm
Jeff:

They WOULD say that.
Avatar 1:20pm
sphere:

i heard an interview with the foley guy from Prairie Home Companion and he made it sound like he stumbled into it from a soundtrack composition job.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm
Greg from ZONE 5:

Well I think you should do it at home and release a record. That'll teach them and their stupid little club for jerks.
  1:23pm
steve:

Am I wrong that foley work has largely been renamed and/or replaced by "sound design"?
Avatar 1:23pm
Bryce:

hahaa

sphere, that's basically what they always say. 'i was a sound editor and somehow got roped into it,' etc. guess you have to sit on a corner in hollywood and bang brake drums together till someone notices.
Avatar 1:24pm
Jeff:

@Greg, can I be in your band "Club for Jerks"?

I can croon in an age-ravaged voice.
  1:25pm

I know an tv sound designer and I feel like what he does is foley with computers and synthesizer type equipment instead of cantaloupes and slabs of meat

PEACE all. My 13 year old cannot believe that shows like this one actually exist. It blew his teenaged mind! I listen to this show sometimes so that more atonal music is more listenable....which is effectively what I told him.
I will take him to Aeomeba records in Toronto if it still exists.

@Ken from Hyde Park-I am so proud of my son! He shed the gloves saying he could not manipulate the bugs to crush them and DID NOT COMPLAIN. I paid him $12 an hour plus a two dollar bonus for not complaining and also because exchanging currency at the duty free took a bite out of his pay...still he netted 23 canadian dollars for an hour and a half of meticulous work at the highest paying job he ever had.
