In fact, they were my first concert also (friend of the family had access to one of those enclosed box-seat suites so me and my friends were isolated from the masses)...

Waters was always the post-Barrett member of PF who enthusiastically acknowledged Syd's contribution. You can't help wondering what Syd would have made of "The Wall" and "The Final Cut" (I suspect he never even heard the latter).
