Also a first time live listener tonight, though I've caught some of your stuff in the past.

Archives are great but there's something special about real time
  12:16am
sfolk16:

Indeed. I've been waiting for months to do a 'real time' thing...On a break from work and finally able to do it live...sometimes, these jobs can be a real inconvenience!

New week. Good morning!

good evening, Jeff and everyone!
NICE! actually diggin' this Grateful Dead piece!

Jeff, you seriously need to get with the people at the Sirius Grateful Dead Channel. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that station, but they are hit and miss whereas your show always features the absolute BEST of the Dead.
Avatar 12:19am
Jeff Conklin:

@slug oh

Jeff Conklin:

@tuner: Thanks. My buddy says they don't believe in actual live DJs over there?!

Is it me or has the flare on these jeans gotten much wider? @Road I'm Trying
  12:25am
sfolk16:

love it ROAD! Redding and Co. laying it out!
  12:25am
Russ:

The GD channel plays some great stuff...but a lot of times they seem to just throw in studio tracks picked at random. I've heard "France" "Good Lovin" and "Money Money" more than once in the past couple weeks! (And I don't listen that often)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26am
tuner fish:

Well, unfortunately for some of the stations they DO have live DJs, where I think that just playing music with no talking would be great. Then there are some stations that have some DJs who provide excellent insight into the music. The Grateful Dead Channel is one of the best channels there, and they do play like three whole concerts per day, but some of the selections in between make me ask "was that really the version someone wanted to play?" like the whole thing is just on shuffle. It could use a little guidance.
Avatar 12:26am
Jeff Conklin:

My experience with the GD channel is very limited. Mostly if I rent a car that has satellite
  12:31am
sfolk16:

@JeffConklin....HA!!! The obligatory 'Casey Jones' on repeat rental car special!!!!
  12:31am

Speaking of GD, I drove up from NoVa today listening to Grayfolded. It's awesome but I forgot about Cease Tone Beam and such

This Agitation Free's live is superb

(not really) it's good to see a dumb man die in a murder ballad
  1:16am
Dean:

Ah, right, PV. Hard to argue. I inclined toward Cosmic Jokers, though, and of course ART. Past tense, 'cuz I sold all that stuff decades ago, not very smartly.
Avatar 1:16am

sorry.

The murder ballad needs to make a comeback
  1:19am

And weirdly I most miss the Epitaph. They were, in a way, the (Workingman's) Dead of Krautrock.

Actually saw a copy of "Outside the Law" today in the bins of a shop i visited. A little too poppy for me

Or so it seems. Announcement reads, "Starting at 2PM Tompkins Square presents folk guitarists Harry Taussig & Max Ochs. They were both featured on a (now vintage) sampler LP, 'Contemporary Guitar - Spring '67', along side John Fahey, Robbie Basho, and Bukka White."
