Here's a thing: next month marks my 5th year on the stream and I'm going to be changing the show up a bit to include an hour of field recordings. Still haven't figured out whether to do first hour or last hour yet..

Cool! I tried to get some recordings of the frogs after a big thunderstorm down here in Florida, but no matter how far away I got, I still could here air conditioners (the large central air fans, every house has). I could ride my bike/drive 5 km to the trailhead of an Audubon ewetland trail, but the residents will probably call the cops as it's a gated community, and the residents get nervous at night .

On my last nature walk the stream I sometimes cross was making the usual ripply sounds but there was one spot where another sound was produced, it was like a one-stringed instrument or maybe a jug. I wished I'd had a recording/video device, but then I felt lame for not just appreciating the moment without needing to record.

Jesse, i don't think you need to decide - ever! maybe some weeks you'll think your field recordings are better suited to open your show; sometimes to close; and maybe sometimes you'll want to mix them into your sets.

well if you feel strongly about some structure, i lean toward the first hour, since it's often relaxing or meditative and Kris' show follows yours - so your more lively selections could lead into his.

...then again, "field recordings" is a wide open array.
