I'm keeping my fingers crossed, Fred. Best of luck to you and the rest of France.

I'm back. That was pretty depressing, but less than the ordeal that awaits two weeks from now

Best of luck to you and the people of France, fred. This Drumpf guy we have here has us swirling the drain and I hope France doesn't wind up right behind us.

@wild neil: So... elect Fascists. When you're in a hole - dig deeper. Sounds like a plan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41am

@wild neil: then I'll be out of a job shortly (I work for a research institute about music) and at best kicked out of the country soon after that (I have some Jewish and Arab blood)
  7:47am
wild neil:

im sorry that would happen Fred.

Sem Chumbo:

@RevRab: when the chips are down, it is always the simplest binary choices which are offered up. A quick flip through the history of the past 100 years shows us the inevitable results of such yes/no options.
Curious, how perceived future uncertainties lead inevitability to take it or leave it situations :/
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52am
fred:

@wild neil: Well, looks like I'm just one of the eggs for your omelet. Makes it hard for me to take your "peace all" as including me in that exclusive club that is your "all".

I would hardly equate LePen or Trump to Stalin.

hello Fred !
super déprimant, je suis d'accord !
heureusement pour moi, mon cabillaud sauce citron vert-coco accompagné d'un Mâcon-fuisse avait plus de charisme que les candidats...
Happy sunday all !

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- & many would have hardly equated Stalin w/ Hitler.
Here's an easily digestible & informed exposition of long-term Foreign Policy by historian Andrew Bacevich :
harryshearer.com...
Seems to me that if we want to speak of solutions - we better examine how we got here. ...Radical suggestion - right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13am
fred:

@oule: sadly, I have to agree about that statement about charisma
@wild neil: I'm not doing that, and I don't equate Le Pen to Trump. I am outlining the parts of her program that apply to me. Her campaign supporters recently told me again that I'd be dead or out when they get to power. Purifying the country from alien corruption, as they put it. Trouble is I'm blue-eyed, so they think I'm one of them. And get extra hostile when they learn I'm not. She's a neo-nazi. Plain and simple. I don't think Trump is anywhere near that
  8:17am
wild neil:

so i guess Le pen is not exactly the same as trump...is she pro life anti abortion?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...tho' the cornerstone of Drumpf's campaign *was* anti-immigrant & racist...
  8:21am
kev:

greeting, hope you had a nice break Nate

wild neil:

anti ILLEGAL ALIEN.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

wn - Obama was already the alltime Deportation king. The immigration system is obviously dysfunctional - but unless you're gonna let my 2% Cherokee / Abenaki stay & send the rest of my honky butt back to Europe - we're all invaders here. & - he has no real plans even if you thot this was a valid platform... & so on...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29am
fred:

@wild neil: Abortion is no big deal around here, pretty much a settled right. I don't know where she stands on that. FN is a nationalist party based on hate. Some Jews join because they hate Arabs, some Arabs join because they hate Jews and blacks, some blacks join because they hate Arabs, some whites join because they hate all of the above. I don't know why a disproportionate amount of gays join though. This puzzles me

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The thing about 'the abortion issue' is it targets Planned Parenthood - which is a crucial Health Service overall - & actually prevents unwanted pregnancy... Really - it's unabashed Anti-Womanism & Class War...
