Listener Howard and the Cats:

Well, I thought I was early, but you were earlier.
Avatar 12:01am
Wm.:

Howard, I have no idea how you were even able to comment that early~
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02am
mcginniwa:

Girlfriend just commented that she could have mistook the King Crimson song for something by the band Unwound. Have to agree. Never would have made that influence connection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03am
mcginniwa:

Ah, sorry, that was for Irene's show, of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03am
Listener Howard and the Cats:

I don't either! I heard RED, saw your playlist was already live, and thought you were already on the air!

Oops.

@mcginniwa: No worries! I was listening too. I agree that lots of 90s indie rock has strong prog elements, depends on the band of course. ... Anyone remember Polar Goldie Cats?
Avatar 12:06am
Wm.:

@Howard: So weird! I shouldn't be live until I enter "Zombie Theme" in the playlist sw
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07am
mcginniwa:

Oh the irony, you are not live until you enter the "Zombie Theme".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08am
mcginniwa:

You haven't fully lived until you have been UNDEAD!
Avatar 12:09am

raised hand
really like Polar Goldie Cats, though that is the first time that somebody brought them up in conversation
Avatar 12:09am
Wm.:

I would never have thought of that. Seriously, mcginniwa, I think my mind leans abstract, so I miss the serendipitous stuff.

Hi Wm. !!!
Avatar 12:17am

My old band Uncle Wiggly played many a show with Hypno Love Wheel, how about them?! They were super proggy, very dense arrangements. ...and overall closer to something harder, like Unwound. My high school friend Paul loved early Genesis, AND Slint, this never surprised me. Polar Goldie Cats were more in their own class of indescribable.

Will have to check out Polar Goldie Cats. Reminds me I have to check out Survival Knife. Current incarnation of Unwound alumni.

People were very complimentary about my rendering of an old Damned hit. I get to do the party once a year, great fun, always love it. I'm old, but I can still rock.

Dean:

"New Rose" is timeless.
Avatar 12:24am
Wm.:

Bex, are you still in the area? Bushwick? It cracks me up that I lived on Arion Pl. from roughly '94-'98. and now it's "prime real estate." I used to get stopped regularly for being *white,* they just assumed I was there to get drugs.
Avatar 12:25am
Wm.:

I'd be like, "No! I live here!" (feigned offense, b/c MAYBE I was there to score, too, but still, FUCK YOU pig.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am

Makes me laugh that I'm doing bookkeeping to this show. Somehow it makes it bearable.

I remember the name Polar Goldie Cats while digging for records in the 90's.

@Wm. Yup, back in Bushwick. Couldn't hack it in Jersey, not tuff enuff

(again, I can't comment on My Castle of Quiet after a few comments if I listen with my ipad, which I do when in my bedroom. i don't know why that is the only show where I can't. cheers! I will listen to it anyway) (temporarily in my office)
  12:33am
rbxbex:

The part of Bushwick I'm in is decidedly still pregentrification. It's a little stressful at times but the rent is cheap and landlord is actually a sweetheart
Avatar 12:36am

@Scraps: I've noticed the playlist page/ability to leave comments is variable depending on the tablet, for instance I can't always comment on other shows using my iPhone. But tonight, we are grateful for the use of your ears.

In NYC, they will bring anything and everything to your door. In NJ it's still only food, or so I've experienced.

People always say that about "the city that never sleeps," but I swear I was there once, 1:00 a.m.-ish, and NOTHING was open. I don't buy it.
  1:08am
rbxbex:

@Dean heavily neighborhood dependent
  1:10am

Yeah, I get it. Maybe "the neighborhoods that never sleep" is more fitting?
