howdy, David and Ruth and Denman and all!

I'm probably the only person who is rather adverse to the venue, The Stone.
Avatar 2:13pm
northguineahills:

I should clarify, I'm not into the rarified air they try to enforce w/ no beverages (not even coffee). Music should be part of culture, w/ people being people, and enjoying sound as a part of the every day. Not, as a something to be ogled in a cultural vacuum as if it were in a museum, devoid of human context.

(I need either caffeine or alcohol to sit in the dark when taking in a show). I can at least bring in either at the Unitarian Church in dowtown Brooklyn.

We have heard this before. It is a fair gripe.

James, welcome always!

The Stone is closing next year anyway, so maybe on the last days, you can walk in with some coffee!

Now, I just need to get my arse back up to NYC!

Hi all!
I'm sorry to hear about The Stone, will need to get there this year while it's still around.

Just in, sorry to have missed the Maroney/Rothenberg, not least because CIMP is such a wonderful label, both in terms of programming and production. Marc Rusch is a master engineer.

Good afternoon David, Ruth and Ridgewood denizens

Hey everybody! Watch your news feeds today about the closing (or...?) of The Stone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm
Webhamster Henry:

I wonder if Mr. Maroney knows about the work of Kevin Hobby on making piano strings have inharmonic partials on purpose so as to "harmonize" with unusual scales like 10EDO.

Profane Oratorio?! Splendid. Just two nights ago I listened to P.D.Q. Bach's "Hansel and Gretel and Ted and Alice, An opera in one unnatural act."

That one I've previously seen, that's the one that says The Stone is closing in a year. Just reacting to David's (or...?) part of his 2:33 post...

So interesting. Terrific interview.

What a great sounding piece, just loving it!

'nother great label, Clean Feed. And Victo above. And Tomato, especially Townes' double live LP from Houston. That particular record puts the performer, TVZ himself, right there in the living room with you.
Avatar 3:06pm
geezerette:

Yes, it is.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm

Fine labels, as Dean has commented. Just love this stuff. Have to check out the Townes record, have quite a few of his (and saw him, Bottom Line, if I recall correctly), that sounds very appealing.

Please *do* get to Bleckmann later!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm

There's clearly a vocabulary collapse going on in the experimental piano world.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm

Does Denman have any plans to play in (or near) Paris? I'd love to hear him live
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:34pm

He was at the Eglise de St. Merry in October but nothing on the horizon.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:34pm

I found an old Bleckmann tape in the Roulette archive that I am curious to show side by side with his new stuff.
