So this is after Dave got out of diapers?

That is a great sign, and good evening Sam!

Are the flavorings good, Jeff? I've never tried them. I dribble a little lemon, lime juice, or cranberry concentrate sometimes.

@Mayuko, @Rev, @Jeff, @UM, @Scraps! So glad you've all exercised your free will to be here tonight.

Well, Sam, if you lose your horse I guess you know who to call.

We're newcomers to the whole thing. Have only tried "cola" -- which makes a pretty credible cola! -- and "tonic" (as in the thing w quinine), of which I am the only fan.

The dialogue in the original True Grit is mostly verbatim from the book. It's very stilted. Stilted language and Glen Campbell's wooden acting were not a good pairing.

Just a looked a minute at a few Little Red Corvette covers, including one by Phil Collins and East 17 in a TV performance, and that one would, um, be a "no!"

Duane of the Train has incredible rare, deep, hidden Prince items. If you already spoke of that, I missed it.
Avatar 10:21pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Prince going @ such a random age as 57 pisses me off in that - anyone w/ sense had to be in awe of Prince the Talent - but I was just beginning to be informed of Prince the Artist. It was also weird that - he seemed to live so Intentionally - but he was ill & medication became a problem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm
coelacanth∅:

RR yeh i wasn't there. it could've been an accident, certainly.
...but then there's jeffery lying about being out of town when he was back when it happened; and his casual reaction when he heard the news for what was supposedly the first time....
Avatar 10:22pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

(So we're told.)
Avatar 10:25pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Jeffrey liked to say he was ex-MI5. A spook. Weirder than Peter Grant. Then again - Eric Burdon was excoriated for suggesting Jimi wanted to go - but he did write that night: ...' The story of love is hello & goodbye - the story of life is a wink of an eye. Until we meet again. '
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm
coelacanth∅:

supposedly Prince was seen by his neighbor just the day before (or was it the same day?) bicycling into town, which he often did. he had flu-like symptoms but was he that sick - sick enough to die - if he's still biking to town?
i'm suspicious!
Avatar 10:27pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It doesn't take a lot of drug to stop your breathing. You know?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm

i know.
i also know that it doesn't take much for a person to consider himself and his own comfort and ego more important than another person's.
...but we'll probably never know.
  10:32pm
johnk77:

weirder than peter grant?
Avatar 10:35pm
Scraps:

I don't think any of the murder theories hold up under Motive. And it's very easy to get sick and die. Remember Jim Henson? When it's someone famous, immediately it's suspicious.
Avatar 10:35pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hard to believe - right? But Jeffrey is pretty mysterious for a major player.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm
Uncle Michael:

This is a charming train.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
coelacanth∅:

anyway (& i'd like to get off the subject) i think it far less likely that Prince was murdered than Jimi Hendrix.
maybe Prince's label stood to gain something, but with Jimi it was jeffery's bread and butter about to disappear when his contract was up; and the government very likely facilitated it...including setting Jimi up with the asshole he was in bed with at the time, or at least making a deal with her to allow Jimi to check out when she could've saved his life.
Avatar 10:39pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...There are allegations Jeffrey had Hendrix kidnapped & rescued - just as a power play. & that he dosed him to undermine the Band of Gypsys - all African-Americans - when the Experience was more marketable. Not even that unlikely. OK - moving on...
Avatar 10:40pm

What kills every junkie (incl fentanyl abusers) is going off for a time (which he did), which lowers tolerance, and then getting back on at the old dose. Save your conspiracy theories for chemtrails, like Prince did.
Avatar 10:46pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@ho: A particularly bitter irony - when people are clean & then overdose - like Tim Buckley. Jimi - not a junkie. Prince - it would seem probably a victim of indiscriminate prescription these days.
  10:51pm
holland oats:

It brought attention to the problem for sure. Prince was straight edge funk & the doctor feelgoods brought him down. Opioid overprescribing is totes rampant.
Avatar 10:54pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It's harsh - w/ Elvis & Jacko - they lived in their own worlds & couldn't be told no - but Prince seemed to live intentionally. But he was actually ill. Or that's what we know.
Avatar 10:56pm

The surge apparently hasn't peaked yet, unbelievably. Crazy all over -- my state had even higher fatal OD numbers last year than the year before, when attention and conflict over addressing it all had already swung way the hell up. One of the losses was a friend. Anyone else?

BigPharma is a major money power. & the answer is not prohibition - it is harm reduction. The powers that be are not interested in solving drug problems. It works for the druglords & cartels, the DEA, the prison-industrial system (racist), BigPharma, the religious Right...
