love your show. Wouldn't miss it. Working though, so I don't usually take time to text.

Mark R:

Thanks, Lunch! Keep listening!

great stuff - I should have turned up the volume so the guy in the next office gets jealous of the crazy voodoo orgy happening here...

coelacanth∅:

i knew how it transpired, but didn't know the date. i happened to listen to 3 George Harrison albums in a row today. (first music of the day)
  4:06am
Mark R:

Pretty amazing how he pulled that together in less than two months--the concert was August 1st.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16am
coelacanth∅:

yah. amazing too that he lured Dylan out of his shell.
  4:18am
Mark R:

Probably just about the only guy who could do it.

coelacanth∅:

in the good ol days, before cds and other means of playing over 50 minutes straight of music without getting up, i had 3 Ravi Shankar albums, which i recorded onto cassettes. these, along with (no pussyfooting), were my favorites to fall asleep to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30am
coelacanth∅:

...actually, after hearing that climax i recall that one of them was much better than the others - as far as not waking me up again toward the end.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Indian music streams are faves for sleeping to - w/ I think similar results. Jazz too...Music to sleep to always sounds like a backhanded compliment - but not to my mind...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37am
coelacanth∅:

Mark, you filled for someone that morning, as i remember... someone who i had thought didn't like Bowie; and i was very relieved that you were filling in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38am
coelacanth∅:

- am i remembering correctly?
  4:41am
Mark R:

You remember correctly, Coel...I followed Therese, who gave me the news. I did an all-Bowie show. Started with this track, in fact.
Avatar 4:45am
greysquad:

that was a great show and tribute as I recall...
  4:47am
Mark R:

Thrown together in a hurry--obviously I had a whole different show planned, but Therese already had all the Bowie CDs in the studio, thank God. And I found that Dick Cavett segment online, that was interesting to hear.

coelacanth∅:

Bowie is certainly the biggest, by far, as far as impact on the world both musically and otherwise; though Prince and Cohen were each huge.
2015 we lost some on the same "level". people seem to forget.
  5:07am
Mark R:

With the aging of that generation, I'm expecting every year to bring a slew of heavy losses. There's no avoiding it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12am
coelacanth∅:

yeah it's crazy the way people were talking after Prince died. "there's no one left" "he was the last rock star"...etc.
-there're many giant and legendary people fortunately still among us, and it's just a matter of me being sad over and over - or me dying first.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16am
coelacanth∅:

it's too bad Leonard kept getting paired up with producers who didn't respect what he was going for. -though i do like the arrangements of the first 3-4 albums, for the most part, i would like to hear all that as he intended.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29am
coelacanth∅:

time to turn the computer off. i'll still be listening if it's not too wild!
Thanks Mark. Debbie (right?) and Rabbit if you're still around. 'night.
  5:31am
Mark R:

This should be good for you--you know how people will put babies in their carrier on top of the washing machine, and the vibrations and sounds will soothe them and lull them to sleep...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33am
coelacanth∅:

haha! - i like this matmos piece. i've heard it before... though it makes me beat myself up a little because i made recordings like this 40 years ago and no one else has ever heard them because i never imagined anyone else would want to.
ciao

You were ahead of your time, like all geniuses!
