The expansion of polkas throughout the world are indicative of the movement of central European peoples. Accordions are used widely in Mexican music,especially Norteno music. In the late 19th century, many Czechs, Poles and Germans settled in northern Mexico, bringing with them accordions and European song forms like waltz and polka.
