Good points about the French roots of Punk per Symbolist Poets - & I was just thinking about the Pistols~McLaren & the Situationists today...People give the French a bad rap re things Rawk'n'Roll quite a bit...

Avatar 9:17pm
Erella:

Naw, I have heard them but they were way before my time. I think they were popular in the early 70's but that theme song was etched in my mind. The show was called "Here Come The 70's"
Avatar 9:18pm
ifny:

@Gary In case you don't know what tiliicum means: people here use it to mean 'friend' usually -- it comes from an Indigenous trading language called Chinook over here on the West Coast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm
Gary:

Ah, interesting ... thanks, ifny
Avatar 9:19pm
ifny:

Sometimes it has a wider meaning, so you can use it to refer to your 'peeps' (kin, comrades, etc.)

You might enjoy a guy named David Pritchard and his Nocturnal Earthworm Stew from the late 70's.

Interesting how "Aurora Spinray" sounds so close to Gregorian chants but sung a little faster.
Avatar 9:24pm

You're welcome Gary. Thanks for playing Syrinx, I'm not familiar with them. You might like Pugs and Crows, they're from Vancouver and they do the wonky stringy thing very well. pugsandcrows.com
Avatar 9:27pm
Erella:

Holy! I just looked at Wikipedia, I worked for their manager at a coffeehouse he owned starting in 1973 (when I was 13)! He and I are friends still all these years later.
"Syrinx released its first (eponymous) album in 1970. In its wake, the group found itself newly in demand from a variety of quarters: Syrinx opened for jazz legend Miles Davis on his Bitches Brew tour, and played bills with Ravi Shankar."
