Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06am Doug Schulkind:

Some audio elixirs for Alex in Illinois? Yup.
  9:08am Mr C:

Beauregard. How about that..
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:09am doctorjazz:

Saw a great show this week, Richard Thompson, he took requests from the audience on slips of paper, put them in a bowl and played the ones he picked. Great version of "You'll Never Walk Alone" off the cuff, also great "And Your Bird Will Sing", had some trouble with The BEatles "I Will", but it was really fun. Worth catching if he's in the neighborhood.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am Doug Schulkind:

I'd call him a racist pig, Mr C, but that would be an offense against pigs.

@doctorjazz
Sounds wonderful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am Dave in Vermont:

@Doug, I used to be on a roller derby team called the Mean Mountain Boys. we actually came down and skated against the New York Shock Exchange at the Gotham Girl's secret practice location in Brooklyn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am Doug Schulkind:

I bet the team from my old borough was called the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel.

The people of Greece know a thing or two about singing the blues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26am Doug Schulkind:

Thanks, ndbob! What culture doesn't sing the blues, Jeff Golick? Iberian flamenco. Irish sea shanty. Etc., etc.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:27am Brian in UK:

@Jeff they do need to get the builders in for some of those ruins in Athens.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am Jeff Golick:

If there is a culture that doesn't sing the blues, I'm sure I don't want to grab a drink with it.

Pvt Cecil Gant, a classic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am Doug Schulkind:

Man do I adore this song. So dreamy, but not creamy.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:45am doctorjazz:

Me too.
Avatar 9:47am still b/p:

Them R to Rs are playing separate tapes apparently, but the cords between looked at first glance like slacky tape in some multi-machine delay array gone wrong.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am Doug Schulkind:

I remember fondly creating long tape loops running tape between multiple decks. Some running many feet across a room. Good times! Hello, still b/p!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am Alex In Illinois:

The vocals on the Chi-Po-Po-Baby song are all in the left, while the instruments are on the right, so you can turn off the left to do karaoke or the right, to reuse the instrumental part.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am Doug Schulkind:

Probably a terribly mastered MP3, Alex in Illinois. So many of the tracks that get shared online are out of phase or worse. I take full responsibility. (Like I said, egg on my faith.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am Doug Schulkind:

Mistake alert...Mistake alert...
John Carter was from Texas (and boyhood friends with Ornette Coleman.) Bobby Bradford is from Mississippi. He met Coleman and Carter in Los Angeles.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:01am Artie Haywire:

Is this gif (hard G) running backwards, or are the reels on the left the take-up reels? Also, odd capstan/guide positioning. I'm all upside down. Good morning Drummers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am Jeff Golick:

Great record. The drummer on "Unsung," Bruz/Buzz Freeman, is Von Freeman's brother.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03am Jeff Golick:

Bobby Bradford, still out there making music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am Doug Schulkind:

Yup. Chico's uncle. Von Freeman was an unheard monster. Decided to keep his day job and remain in Chicago. His brother is Bruz. Hate them typos out there saying otherwise.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:05am Artie Haywire:

Peace be upon you, Doug and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26am Doug Schulkind:

@Brian in UK
That track was coming out of the Third Stream tradition. It was a late-'50s/early-'60s movement that brought together elements of "jazz" and "classical."

Big warm welcome, Webhamster!

Big sloppy radio French kiss, Sam Segal!

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:58am Brian in UK:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Parq:

Hi, Doug. Do you not like the idea of Scott Baio as Secretary of Defense?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Doug Schulkind:

It's a small leap from mature to manure, Brian in UK.

Speaking of mature, it's Parq!
Avatar 🥁 11:00am βrian:

They always check potential candidates against the Scott Walker recall signature list. (No lie.) So I'd be out of the running.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am Parq:

No, wait, I've got that wrong. Baio is slated for Secretary of the Interior. The Nuge is going to be Sec of Defense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am Parq:

You realize, of course, Doug, that I had to read that twice.

There's a push to make open-carry federal, that is, even in states that don't permit it, it would be allowed, states couldn't restrict open carry. Just want to listen to music...
