We could never keep my dog away from the dishes while we stacked them. We all but had to wash them in the sink before washing them in the machine.

I'm heartened because we have nowhere to go but up from James's terrible opening joke. WELCOME FRIENDS!

If I can repurpose old cereal taglines to define the basement of discourse, then I have served my gods well. :) Morning, Amanda and all!

Gosh, who would've guessed that dishwashers were such deathtraps?
Morning, ljfw, Amanda and dirty dishdoers everywhere!

"The cororner / So sick of that guy"--I am plotzing here!

Hey, UM!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am

That absolutely was a song about Dr. Nick. Yes.

My goat doesn't even *have* a hoodie.

It'll be among the 2017 bits of Marathon swag.

Trying so hard to read the goat's shirt logo...

Great version of To Love Somebody.

For only the 2nd time ever, I contacted my congressman. Or actually my congressman-elect. We dumped a longtime rep last week, one w/ a homophobic streak and a penchant for Wall St money. I phoned his Dem replacement to ask him to speak out about some things. Get him working early.

@Alex, thank you for giving us a coffee break time listen!

Thanks, Amanda , I saw that, but it's only available as am MP3 download. Still a physical meows kinda guy (much to the chagrin of my wife...)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am
Jeff Golick:

Good on ya, @listener james. I tried many times to get through to NY's junior senator yesterday but lines were jammed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am
listener james from westwood:

I actually prefer "physical meows," regardless of context!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am
Jeff Golick:

(Hi, 'manda and The 'mandettes.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00am
Amanda:

Should my backup singers be called the "Mandates" Y/N?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am
listener james from westwood:

@Jeff: Taking that as a good sign. Have you tried their NY office in addition to their DC one? May be worth calling both (though both may be jammed). But I'm told calling a legislator has more immediate impact than writing in any format (argh, b/c I'm a better writer than speaker!).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am
doctorjazz:

I'm not sure what you call your representative about. Not putting the Breibart bastard in the Cabinet? My sense is the more push back Trump gets on stuff, the more likely he is to find more of these jokers to put in positions of importance, just to show he can. I'm sure there will be tons to protest once Trump can actually do something. I suppose putting the legislator on notice is not a bad thing...
Avatar 10:08am

Good morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am
Stevel:

Amanda: I'd vote Yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am
Amanda:

Hey Mayuko!!!!!! How are you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am
doctorjazz:

Then again, Cheristie's fortunes seem to have fallen :)
But I think that is more personal than protest, he prosecuted Trump's son in law's dad years back, Kushner is said to hate him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am
Jeff Golick:

It's that latter point, @doctorjazz. Plus, Gillibrand put out a call for comments re Bannon's appointment, specifically to register public sentiment; that was what I was responding to in this particular case. And yes, calling much better than tweeting/emailing/or even letter-sending. Though I share @ljfw's preference for written communications.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am
Jeff Golick:

I also vote yes on The Mandates.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am
doctorjazz:

Another vote for The Mandates!

I'm good Amanda, tuning in from work so can't comment much but listening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am
Nate K.:

Re: this Hollies tune, I'm always amazed when Brits don't sound foolish trying to cover an Otis Redding song (or any other soul song). It was a miraculous thing, that British Invasion. Not many American bands pulled it off as deftly (although there are some).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21am
Nate K.:

Then again, the opposite--soul artists covering the British Invasion--yielded equally amazing results, as this Randy Crawford song illustrates.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am
Alex In Illinois:

@Amanda: I thought I heard the singer refer to Mr. Nesmith's existence in the past tense. But maybe he was referring to who Mr. Nesmith was in the past, in contrast to who he is now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am
Amanda:

@Alex ah, gotcha. I think your second guess is right, but in talking about Nez there should always be some far-out cosmic element to confuse us. ;-)

Corrections: Superdude (RIP) was a gerbil, not a hamster as stated. Nazario Scenario regrets the error.
