Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from November 11, 2016 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

I woke up this afternoon dreaming of a rumbling freight train squealing through a stockyard full of cattle, eeerr, never mind, it was just DJ Bryce's show combined with a Trump prophesy.

@coel: yah, had it painted British racing green. Oak roof rack. A bomb.
Drove like a truck, but 6 1/2 feet in the back with rear seats down. Great camper. Fifth gear, electric overdrive. hahaha.

coelacanth:

whoh, i was thinking like this: www.rezbach.de...
but you must've had the wagon,no?
...any pictures?

PEACE all. @ Sem Chumbo-I just realized-if I put my car seats down I could sleep in it too, probably! I need to get curtains on suction cups for the windows though....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
coelacanth:

yours was probably more like this: 13252-presscdn-0-94.pagely.netdna-cdn.com...
except this is a 445 "duett".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
coelacanth:

i can easily imagine that with an oak roof rack. beautiful!
Avatar 12:44pm
Davis:

i had a british racing green '69 145 that had curtain rails all round and curtains, back seats went down completely flat, beautiful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm

Fat fingered typing: the 445, I meant: owlshead.org...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm
coelacanth:

the 240 wagon has a 6'1" sleeping (or, what have you) area if the front seats aren't back too far. -same body as the 145, essentially. i have lived in them.
Avatar 12:47pm
Davis:

cool. HST's car the 145
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

In the 90s, I drove a first generation Ford Probe. It was nice to be able to stash one or two bikes in back and go off car camping on weekends. If I locked my keys inside, just pull the frameless window out a little and maneuver a coat hanger to push the unlock button.
  12:52pm
Cliff in Prague:

Also liking Smith & Ciani a whole lot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
coelacanth:

i like that y'all had british racing green cars! i semi-restored one of these: www.imcdb.org...
i wanted to paint it "eggplant purple" (almost black) but that custom color was 2-300. $ more than an equally dark green. except in bright sunlight it looked black, but in the sun it sparkled. i was glad i got the green.
Avatar 12:57pm
Bryce:

hellos!
Avatar 12:59pm
Whooda:

I've had a three 240 wagons. With the seats down it will literally hold a twin mattress flat on the floor with the tailgate down. Loved those 240's!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm

Oh Bryce is here! Hi!
are you the one playing this beautiful, calming music?
-whomever it is is Awesome.
Avatar 12:59pm

lovely, i had a gold 164- far out car. that 145 was original british racing green with beige vinyl interior like the jags etc of the 60s.

I currently have one of the last Volvo's — a 98 v70. It's as heavy as truck, but still drives like a car. I miss the open feel of the 142e, though clearly a different beast.
Avatar 1:09pm
βrian:

[Sorry about that apostrophe. Oy.]
Avatar 1:12pm
Davis:

the 144 is the perfect car i think, so airy and open inside and enough power for even now, and the best speedo ever, and air vents for your feet, and so on

this music is beautiful. thank you

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm
coelacanth:

Davis, the 164, 140 & 240 series were all about the same, body-wise; chassis-wise. no need for cameras to back up. takes a u-turn on narrow roads. plenty of speed, plenty of torque. comfortable seats that don't ruin your back.
...the 140s & 164 were clearly prettier than the 240s, because of the lighting!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm
coelacanth:

Whooda, i had a massage table laid out flat in the back of a 240 wagon. (6') travelled around the country for many months. the best sleep of my life.
Avatar 1:33pm
βrian:

When I moved from VT to MI, I had to pull out the passenger seat to accommodate my worldly goods. I also had a pod on the rooftop, to which was strapped the various parts of my bed. Jed Clampett had nothing on me.

Hello, Bryce, I would like you to know that I am enjoying this show very much.
  1:40pm
Lyle:

Diseno Corbusier! Wow. The memories come flooding back. I remember him from Chicago's Hot Streets Tour circa '77. Diseno was Donnie Daucus' guitar technician. Daucus was new to the band after the death of Terry Kath. It was Diseno who urged Donnie to keep wearing the 8" platform heels he favored, even though Robert Lamm threatened to quit the band if Daucus didn't "tone down the glam." In the end, it was Daucus who left, making room for Bill Champlin and that whole can of worms. I ran into Diseno not that long ago, at a Denny's in Julesberg, Colorado. He had a case of Coors beer in the trunk of his Maverick and we drank several of them while reminiscing about past days and haranguing Denny's patrons who filtered out of the place, stuffed as they were on their Superbirds, French Slams, and Moons Over My Hammies. Good times!

thanks, steveo!! it makes me so happy that you're here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm
coelacanth:

that's a v70 βrian?
...i looked at one of them (91?) a month ago, before i bought my present (& 5th) 240 wagon. the ad said "mint condition"- had it listed as "excellent". $900
...i would not have paid $100. for it. (though by hours lost going to see it, i almost did)
- i've heard good things though.
-by "last volvos" you mean before the chinese bought it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm

Hahaha! Lyle you seem to be getting younger!
Avatar 1:44pm
βrian:

Well, Ford first, and then whoever the remains were passed off to afterwards.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm
coelacanth:

oh, i thought ford bought it earlier than that, and they didn't start sucking right away because of some stipulation regarding quality.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I test drove a C30 a few years ago, just for fun. It was nice and all, but I wasn't in the market for a new car at the time.
Avatar 1:51pm
βrian:

My mechanics advised me not to touch anything after 1999. I don't know the details.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm
coelacanth:

probably pretty spritely that c30. if i could afford a new car though, i'd get an old one and fix it up.
...there are some new cars i'd like to drive for an hour though, preferably on an insanely twisty mountain road.
