Yes folks the world is turning to the right. Yes, Austria was a near miss recently. France is up for grabs. Germany well, who can take in one million refugees with no reaction. Of course America with its lack of global vision (current friends excluded).
And the whole year topped and tailed by Bowie and Cohen funeral directors to the stars.

From today's New York Times:

WASHINGTON — President-elect Donald J. Trump, who campaigned against the corrupt power of special interests, is filling his transition team with some of the very sort of people who he has complained have too much clout in Washington: corporate consultants and lobbyists.

Mr. Trump was swept to power in large part by white working-class voters who responded to his vow to restore the voices of forgotten people, ones drowned out by big business and Wall Street. But in his transition to power, some of the most prominent voices will be those of advisers who come from the same industries for which they are being asked to help set the regulatory groundwork.

Did anyone ever see that edition of Night Music with David Sanborn when Carla Bley was the guest, and they claimed that she had a daughter and he had a son who were in a band together? Neau, never been.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am Alex In Illinois:

if you had seen that performance of what might have been a band including Jonathan Sanborn and Karen Mantler, you might understand my hesitation. Also, at the time, I did not know that Sanborn was born in 1945 because he always looks younger than his actual age. So I did not know that he was old enough to have a son that old.

Hey Boss is that a typo. Could be the musicians for all I know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am Doug Schulkind:

The New Yorker Magazine just linked to a new article with a Tweet that asks "What’s the point of listening to music during a moment that seems so fraught?"

Here is the article: www.newyorker.com...

Which typo where, Sir? I plead guilty, now let's sort it out.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am Alex In Illinois:

My answer to that New Yorker question: fewer side effects that whiskey.
  11:08am Ramblin' Ray:

This skronk is hitting the spot!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Little Danny:

Hey buddy! Hoping to get to Marathon soon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am melinda:

hi everyone!
@Doug: I liked your piece on McCabe & Mrs. Miller and thought it funny that you confused it with The Ghost and Mrs. Muir so went in with low expectations. I think I was turned off by the name for a while too before I actually watched it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Alex In Illinois:

I mean: "fewer side effects thaN whiskey. "
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am Doug Schulkind:

Hello, melinda and Little Danny! (Sounds like a Robert Altman movie.)

I see your point, Dean.

Sort of dub Ian Curtis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am Doug Schulkind:

Dubian Curtis.
  11:23am Dean:

Joy Dubision
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am joe:

There was actually a band in NYC called Jah Division that did dub versions of Joy Division
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am Doug Schulkind:

In high school, our band/orchestra/marching band teacher was named Doberstein, but we all called him Doberman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am Doug Schulkind:

He always had a little speck of spit on his lower lip, and when he became enraged, which was pretty much every day, the spit would fly onto the clarinet section.
  11:28am Dean:

Clarinet sections been taking shit (and spit) forever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Doug Schulkind:

Mr. Dobertstein, when he would be working with one particular section of the orchestra, would tell the rest of us to "finger our parts" silently while that section rehearsed.

Finger our parts.

High school students.

Finger our parts, he said.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:30am Brian in UK:

We used to have a Tech Drawing teacher with a bit of a speech impediment, he would say 'schit down boysch and pass the paper round'. Funny to us juveniles from Juneau.
  11:31am Dean:

"Finger our parts" reminds me of a joke about a faux-band leader, but I'm not sure I'm up to telling it.

The beginning of the Jeannie Greene sounded familiar like Percy Sledge. Her husband Marlin engineered Percy's early work.
