Nobel comittee became ridiculous, not alone since the Obama award. My impression is they are trying to popularize or something.
  2:13am
sc:

The committee seems to go back and forth between popular vs. obscure in terms of literature. It's also odd they've given so few lit awards to Americans, and yet now Dylan gets one. Yeah, he probably doesn't care, but good for him!
Avatar 2:14am
AdamFromOldeKenzo:

I think the Nobel committee that chooses the Literature winner is different than the one that chooses the Peace prize
Avatar 2:15am
Jeff Conklin:

I don't care at all about awards
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15am
Guido from Cologne:

That's right Adam.
I should have used plural.

Mark R:

Haven't heard Larry Coryell in a while--used to listen to him all the time.
Avatar 2:17am
AdamFromOldeKenzo:

I would have liked to see Pynchon win the prize, but Dylan was still a cool choice that I especially like after seeing Dylan haters freak out online. But yeah, awards are still kind of dumb. Jeff, your comments on the whole thing basically are the same as mine!
Avatar 2:19am
AdamFromOldeKenzo:

Yet it is still nice to see someone whose art you love get recognition.
Avatar 2:20am
AdamFromOldeKenzo:

People complained about baby boomers, yet the classic rock stations hardly ever play any Dylan, they play Supertramp and Foreigner ever hour instead!
  2:22am
sc:

I think what's most interesting is that they awarded Dylan for "new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition." i think a lot of the debate has to do with people not thinking lyrics are worthy of a Nobel prize. But that seems silly.
Avatar 2:24am
AdamFromOldeKenzo:

@sc true, one of the best arguments that I saw against that was that plays are also considered literature, even though they are highly dependent on theperformance.
  2:24am
Simon The Good:

Enjoying the sounds, watching the sun rise in Barcelona. Good work with the Jake Blanchard stuff.
