Haha Jeff, I googled and found a blog post you wrote about that Folkways record six years ago! "Upon reading the extensive notes in the original LP I discovered Ms.Moskowitz was a student of Ragas of South India's featured vocalist and Gottuvaydyam player Gayathri Rajapur and contributes tamboura with Harihar Rao rounding out the ensemble on percussion" Cool! http://avantghetto.blogspot.com/2010/04/ragas-from-south-india-folkways.html

passed out for a bit, woke up to this one

One of those songs where he sounds like an unholy hybrid of Harry Chapin and Mickey Dolenz. In a good way, of course.

I actually saw Tim Buckley playing on an episode of "The Monkees" a couple of months ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23am
pacific standard simon:

This reminds me a lot of early Hot Tuna.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26am
joeray:

Tim Buckley played on the same set that Frank Zappa and Mike Nesmith used the previous week, complete with the car that Zappa played/demolished in the background.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29am
pacific standard simon:

That Monkees episode was part of the final run of episodes, where they gave each Monkee the last few minutes to do whatever he wanted. I believe Buckley was the choice of Peter Tork.
  2:29am
P-90:

I forgot all about Tim Buckley in the Monkees TV show. Gonna have to catch up with that one.
  2:30am
Bill Mumy:

Me too! That's worth digging up.

You want a really insane Monkees episode, find the one where Liberace demolishes a piano with a sledgehammer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35am
joeray:

I think Buckley was Mickey's choice. The Monkee's episode is titled "The Frodis Caper" and is available (on YouTube!) with the version featuring a Mickey Dolenz commentary that is hilarious! A bit of the Beatles Good Morning, Good Morning is featured at the start of that episode!
Avatar 2:39am

Have I told my Monkees story?

The silence must mean no. Please do tell :)
