Before The New Yorker put a padlock on its digital archives---it was possible to bypass the home page with a deep link--- I'd spend hours there. It was my John Cheever phase, there was plenty to read.

This song always reminds me of my mom's parents' five-story walkup in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx. Quite a view from its roof. You could see the screen of a distant drive-in theater from it.
