Live performance and chat with The Secret Sea

Back in the early 2000s, Israeli born Amit Erez started taking his first steps as a musician, infusing his music with influences from folk-rock favorites like Elliott Smith, The Decemberists and Nick Drake. Two band projects and a solo album later, Erez took over his last band's name as his own, now performing as The Secret Sea. Amit recently relocated to Portland, Oregon and just played his first NYC show. He had an extra night available, so The Secret Sea played live and premiered same new album tracks on Irene's show.

Nope, Noa's name is real! She's been on my show at least once or twice. such a lovely person and songwriter! Nice to be reminded of her connection to Amit/The Secret Sea. Jack, Peter has been on my show many times, who I met through fellow guitarist Ian Smit. Both are Jersey boys, and we've long conversations over the years about all the wonderful, weird music we like in common.

So today, the National Mall FINALLY reopens (for the most part) after about 2 years of renovation. I very happily walk to the middle to rejoice. A woman comes up to me: Excuse me, where is the mall? Uh, you're standing on it!! ..... she asks "Well then where are all the shops?!". Seriously. Boggle. Brain fried.

Congrats, Van! I used to smoke cigarettes and quit more than 20 years ago. The first week was the hardest. Now I can even stand the smell. I've heard it's the hardest addiction to kick.

John Waters used to do an anti smoking bit as a theater trailer, way back in the day. The entire time, he would give off the vibe of "although I don't see what the big deal is ..."

Yep, thanks again Irene! I found one of your shows from 2011 that I inexplicably missed, apparently, with a live Peter Biedermann, so I thought hmmm, I'll have to revisit that show in the next couple of days to do a prep for next week. :)
