Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from September 9, 2016 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
Alex In Illinois:

I can understand why the proximity part is programmed in there, but why the lane changing alarm? Are trucks supposed to stay in the same lane?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm
Lane Gray:

We are allowed to change lanes, but the first symptom of highway hypnosis for falling asleep at the wheel is drifting out of the lane
  1:24pm
Dean:

Drift.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
Lane Gray:

Like being said. My last co-driver, the one with three wrecks in five weeks, took out somebody's bumper cover by drifting out of his Lane
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm

I'd think the turn signal would tell the system you're out of your lane on purpose.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm
Lane Gray:

My boss is too cheap for one of the dash cams that integrates with all of the controls, it just sits here in the dash with no inputs other than microphone and two cameras
  1:26pm
Dean:

I know from experience. I was struck on 5 in Southern California by a truck/trailer that drifted into my lane. My car spun perpendicular to the flow of traffic, conveniently settling directly in front of the truck as it slowed to a stop. I looked out my driver's side window. I could read MACK.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm

If it has a mike input, maybe somehow it can be programmed to accept a voice command to indicate that you are awake before you make a lane change. But that would be for the programmers at the device vendor to figure out.

Ken is great! Someone once gave me his number and suggested I call him but I was too chicken! He's in his 90s now, slowed down considerably but I guess still active.

Long John! A relatively obscure 70s figure who means a lot to me for reason I won't bore you with.

Remember "English Bob," the character played by Richard Harris in Eastwood's "Unforgiven"? Baldry looked kinda like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm
Uncle Michael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm

Hmm. Well, I remember seeing Unforgiven and thinking "Is that Long John Baldry?" Maybe it was just coz Baldry had a very similar black suit when I saw him ca. '72.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
Uncle Michael:

I'm just saying Baldry is really, really tall.
Avatar 2:35pm
Roberto:

All right already, I'll vote for him.
Avatar 2:36pm
Roberto:

OK turns out he's not on the ballot this cycle, and is unlikely to be at any future date seeing as he died 10 years ago.

I can't wait for this show to resume, but I can't remember if it's Mock the Week or HIGNFY

Saw Eddie Harris with Scofield in the 90s. It was so amazing. Apparently he did comedy for a while, but I've never heard any recordings.
