What Paul said! :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@common: en.wikipedia.org...
An interesting thing is Keef said they & the Beatles actually staggered their releases to not get in each others' way! It almost seems that way - which makes measuring them against each other more difficult...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm
common:

thanks rev rab
Avatar 4:55pm
fleep:

Sgt. Pepper - June '67. Satanic Majesties - December '67. More than just staggered, a call/response. Probably other releases as well.

paul:

Rubber Soul-Pet Sounds- Sgt Pepper call/response/response
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Of course Lennon said just see what we did & what they did two weeks later. Buttons woulda been about time of StrawberryFields/PennyLane inbetween Revolver & Pepper.

Sgt Pepper - We're Only in it for the Money :)

Hey D and gang! The Electric Mess playing LIVE in Somerville, MA tonight. Don't miss that if you're in the area.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I think there's a whole subgenre of albums & tracks that were a response to Revolver - but generally a year late when TheBeatles were in Pepper mode already in '67. They're generally really good! - BeeGees 1st, par example.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm
MattBelow:

Love that post-Revolver Beatlesque genre...i.e. Bee Gees, Honeybus, Grapefruit, Powder, We All Together
  5:05pm

To think that Revolver was released on August 5, 1966, 364 days after Help (which was released exactly five years after I was, btw), and yet musically is a quantum leap by the Awesome Foursome in that one-year span!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm
MattBelow:

Hey Gaylord! It is amazing. The acting in Help! gave you a hint of what was to come ;)
  5:47pm

Matt, great show on a summer's afternoon. Can you play some Chocolate Watchband (pleez?!)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm
MattBelow:

Thanks Astrid and geezerette! Let me see if I can quickly sneak it in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The UK version of 'Help!' shows what a strong & important album it is. 'RubberSoul' (inbetween) in its' greatness was actually very rushed for the Xmas market. 'Revolver' took 300 hours in the studio - a very long time then (yerknow - it's just a rekkid for the kiddos, right?)...
