Loving the set! Great African sounds!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Doug Schulkind:

That's the music in the outer lobby. We'll save a seat for you inside the radiotorium, Doc.

Welcome back!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Doug Schulkind:

I was aching to get back, Gary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Doug Schulkind:

This track on the stream is "Black Cobra (pt. 1)," by Curly Davis & the Uniques. It is very good.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:58pm listener james from westwood:

Welcome back, Doug, and howdy all comers to this meeting of the Moose Lodge!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Doug Schulkind:

You're a streamerdreamer, Gary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm Mike East:

I have a toyota rav4 which I call the Ravi Shan-car. Evening, Doug. Good to have you back. Hope you had an excellent trip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Doug Schulkind:

The very first rock concert I ever went to was supposed to have Ravi Shankar opening for George Harrison (1974). But Shankar was ill, so his band went on without him. Billy Preston was the other opening act. My afro just may have been bigger than his at that time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm Doug Schulkind:

That's what I'm talkinabout!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Doug Schulkind:

The marvelous Günter Lenz is on bass here on this Mangelsdorff gem.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:30pm listener james from westwood:

I wonder if Morricone cribbed part of "Burungkaka" for the music over the shootout in the train station in "The Untouchables."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Doug Schulkind:

Morricone had fabulously wide-open ears. And he was a jazz purveyor with his ensemble Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza. It wouldn't surprise me.

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:42pm doctorjazz:

gotta run, Claudio Roditti is playing in my town's usually poor Tuesday Night around town free jazz fest (Westfield NJ, if anyone is not too far, nice outdoor fest, actually, but generally few names I recognize. Occasionally they find one, though. Don Braden will be there in 2 weeks). 7-9 PM Tuesdays during the summer, fun even if the acts arean't Village Vanguard stuff...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Gary:

This is terrific. Where did you say you found it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Doug Schulkind:

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
The deft Kurt Gottschalk will splatter his sonic love all over your inner-ear canvasses, next on the Drummer Stream. Kurt will be filling in for Jesse Kaminsky tonight and for the next three Tuesdays. Here is his playlist page: wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Doug Schulkind:

@Gary
I don't remember at the moment. I can "take care of you," however. Just email me or I'll forget.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Gary:

Mmm, will do!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Doug Schulkind:

Not sure of the date on this track, but Zafer Aracagök has a book also titled "I Want to Be a Suicide Bomber," from 2013. So I'm guessing this is three years old-ish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Gary:

That reminds me, I have a (kind of) present for you, too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Doug Schulkind:

The opening drum machine jam on this is so reminiscent of Timmy Thomas' "Why Can't We Live Together."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Doug Schulkind:

Your presence is a present, enough, Gary.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm Doug Schulkind:

Ith that tho, geezerette?

A missing is as good as a mile, Brother Jeff.
Avatar 6:56pm Jeff:

My lovemateperson says she's "a terribly druggie". Meaning she's just no good at it at all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Gary:

Wait, this is a Baltimore band?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Doug Schulkind:

This track makes me thing of Rangda.

Yes, they're from Bodymore, Murderland, Gary.
