Or the Simpsons gloss on this: "And all the races go, [etc.]"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm
Amanda:

As usual when I do this theme show, I'm shaking like a leaf with nerves. Thank you all, SO MUCH, for tuning in! I love you even more than the idea of a Hamm-Affleck-me 3-way situation

@Webhamster Henry - don't know what year it's from, but I discovered it recently and love it... will investigate later.

So, is Kermit swallowing Ernie like a python in that last frame? Glaaaaump!

Deep breath. Big hearts to you from Ridgewood!

Amanda, WFMU wouldn't be WFMU without you, and June wouldn't be June without your Pride shows. You are safe here and we are safe with you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
Amanda:

@LJfW, don't be silly. They are obviously cosplaying the Frog Prince because Kermit told them he doesn't swing that way (though he was flattered).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm

hi Amanda and Scenesters...uh oh, what kind of party IS this?!

Can a Muppet be a furry? Aren't all Muppets furries, or is it just the monsters like Herry, Frazzle, Snuffy? #OverthinkersAnonymous
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm
Webhamster Henry:

Guy Smiley is a reverse Furry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm
Jeff Golick:

He's furry on the inside.

Read any good books lately? Could do worse than Kenneth Dover's Greek Homosexuality.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
doctorjazz:

The set is great so far, doing great, Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
Amanda:

If I may be serious for a moment, it's well known in the Muppetverse that Muppets do NOT self-identify as being cloth, felt, fuzz, etc. Kermit is a frog and Bert & Ernie are people.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
Jeff Golick:

Meanwhile: I'm pretty sure Bugs Bunny had some kind of sexual effect on my young mind. Just not sure what.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm
Amanda:

@doctorjazz, thank you so much! And thanks to everyone here so far who has checked in with happy thoughts and words.

@Jeff Golick I have heard that Robert Crumb had the same thing happen.

Too bad the best thing Congress can think of to help Orlando and other shooting victims is a moment of silence.

Kermit sure as hell self-identifies as green!

Silence is good in certain contexts; I favor loudness this time.

listener james from westwood:

My uncle, a bi gent who lived in the Bronx, was a DJ (no Frankie Knuckles or anything) in gay clubs & bars during the 70s & 80s. I dearly wish I knew more about that aspect of his life, but was denied that opportunity. Shows like this one get me closer to it, though.
  12:26pm
Dean:

@Cheyenne: Wow, and Marston died so young! Pity. Dover's book is fabulous, a seminal study of the topic. Truly. In the preface, Dover writes (in 1978), "I am fortunate in not experiencing moral shock or disgust at any genital act whatsoever, provided that it is welcome and agreeable to all the participants (whether they number one, two or more than two)." And so on.

Getting into Elton John recently, didn't take him too seriously the first time around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm

Glad to hear that @doctorjazz! I really went back and forth on including "Border Song" as it's such a radio hit (relatively), but I just had to, it's so beautiful.

I don't think DJs should hold back from playing good songs if they're good, even if they were commercially successful! Also -- I have only heard the Pansy Division version of this song! Haha

No musical?! They lied to us through song! I hate when people do that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm

I would have LOVED a musical "Casablanca," too, a la "Oh! Streetcar" but no dice... probably impossible to replicate the level of funny there anyway.
