June 14, 2016: XIU XIU (Plays the Music of Twin Peaks)
Xiu Xiu was commissioned by Australia’s Gallery of Modern Art to reinterpret Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch's music from Twin Peaks for its David Lynch: Between Two Worlds exhibition in 2015. The band has since performed select shows all over the globe, including NYC's The Kitchen last April, resulting in a proper studio album of the compositions entitled "Xiu Xiu Plays the Music of Twin Peaks." The album, produced by former Xiu Xiu member Jherek Bischoff and mixed by Deerhoof's Greg Saunier, was just released on Record Store Day by Polyvinyl in the U.S. and Bella Union in Europe. Bandleader Jamie Stewart joins Devon in the studio to discuss the new release.
