Alex North was the original composer commissioned to compose 2001.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...the BitchesBrew-like undercurrent of roiling 1969 intensity is unmistakable - nice jam...
  3:14am
Mark R:

Thanks, JoeRay! I need all the help I can get.

...destroying my notions of circular time...
- it's good to hear you now - not as a fill-in; but i'm drifting.
...Thank you for not so gently lulling me to sleep.

(...this is the best Chick Corea i've ever heard)

JoeRay:

It's impossible to do a bad version of One For My Baby, such a great song.

GMCQ:

Love to hear that early Beth Orton stuff...

I'm quite enjoying the tunes and sounds. Hip-o-tizing relaxation for late afternoon pleasure here..nice.

Where is it late afternoon, PaGo? Down Under, perhaps?

Much appreciated, sir! We'll try to keep it interesting for ya!
  4:52am
JoeRay:

I was thinking that it would be cool to end your show with something from the 2001 soundtrack!
  4:53am
Mark R:

But it's not the end of the show! Don't go!

Good Morning Fred! Where is here?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14am
fred:

A few miles south of Paris, France
  5:17am
Debwa:

Is there a station in Paris like this? What is your go to station there?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26am
fred:

There's nothing like WFMU here (is there anywhere?). I rarely listen to any other station, but once in a while I listen to Frequence Paris Plurielle (it has many shows from immigrant communities) or Radio Libertaire (anarchist station with a few great experimental music shows)
  5:29am
Mark R:

My friend Derek turned me on to FIP, which I thought was pretty cool. But in my humble opinion, WFMU is a singular experience on God's green earth. Thanks so much for listening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33am
fred:

Yeah, I guess FIP is OK, but too professional for me. I like hearing DJs dealing with uncooperative equipment, and I can't stand ads. I'm spoiled
  5:38am
Mark R:

Yes, no one will ever accuse us of being too professional.

Loving the sounds

Wow, Marcus Belgrave. I love his Space Odissey, and I'm grateful to Carl Craig for bringing the Tribe crew over to Paris years ago
