	12:15pm Dean: As much as I loved Snowflakes, I was a real sucker for Tomita's Holst, Mussourgsky, and Stravinsky albums. The same year as "Planets" Patrick Gleeson released an electronic version. I had both, played both, but can't recall which I preferred. It'd be fun to hear them both back-to-back track-by-track (or synaurally).

	12:52pm Cecile: I don't know, but my dad used to go to a cloister of a (mostly) silent order of nuns every year for their annual reception, and the only cake they would serve would be angel food.

	12:56pm MrFab: Wow, Beat Happening. Hello, 80s college rock! That caused a bit of a flashback: Do I have any papers due tomorrow?
	12:57pm Dean: I slipped two or three anchovies (and capers!) into the marinade for the butcher steak I grilled yesterday. Wife had no idea, and the steak was superb. Now I have to figure out ways to use the rest of the anchovies in the jar. A Bolognese, for sure. Hmmm, maybe deviled eggs?
	12:58pm βrian: Perhaps a pissaladière, Dean?
	1:01pm Cecile: that would work. Worchestershire sauce is anchovy based so it makes sense.
	1:01pm Dean: I'd love it but nobody else in the house would. I wake up mornings craving pasta with anchovies and olives. One of the very best dishes I've had over the years in otherwise overrated Bay Area restaurants is Cesar's "matrimonios," grilled anchovies served on toasts with aioli. Luscious.
	1:03pm Dean: I put Worcestshire in my mac 'n' cheese, and once I had to apologize that as a result it wasn't quite vegetarian. Not sure I'd put anchovies in it, though.
	1:04pm northguineahills: Making anchovy sauces w/ capers, smoked ground chillies (+ other ingredients) w/ pasta is one of my favorite things to make. Asian fish sauces and Worcestershire figure prominently in many dishes as well.
	1:06pm βrian: Sumac might be a nice surprise on devilled eggs. Nice color and a pleasant sourness.
	1:06pm Tony Coulter: Yma Sumac on deviled eggs? Not sure if I'd like that.
	1:10pm βrian: Rhus coriaria, Tony. Zesty!
	1:13pm Dean: Gonna have to grab lunch soon. Thinking anchovy burrito with extra Yma Sumac and a side of Josephine Baker.

	1:28pm Cecile: I used to use a Lebanese spice blend that had sumac in it for my eggs. I'm not using it now.
	1:28pm Cecile: Okay, the secret is Old Bay.
	1:29pm βrian: Sounds like zatar. Avec oregano and ground sesame seeds?
	1:30pm βrian: Similar to Spike, Cecile? I've seen it. Never had it.
	1:30pm Dean: Old Bay! Duh!!! There it sits on my lazy Susan, and I use it all the time in burgers, etc. A great secret!

	1:33pm Tony Coulter: I rub it all over myself, instead of Old Spice.
	1:33pm Cecile: it's like a crab boil deal. Lots of different spices. It has a kind of a bit of celery flavor, but nothing really stands out except THE DELICIOUSNESS

	1:34pm Cecile: Brian, I think she was doing a kind of red zataar, except none of us knew what it was back then.

	12:57pm Dean: I slipped two or three anchovies (and capers!) into the marinade for the butcher steak I grilled yesterday. Wife had no idea, and the steak was superb. Now I have to figure out ways to use the rest of the anchovies in the jar. A Bolognese, for sure. Hmmm, maybe deviled eggs?

	1:01pm Dean: I'd love it but nobody else in the house would. I wake up mornings craving pasta with anchovies and olives. One of the very best dishes I've had over the years in otherwise overrated Bay Area restaurants is Cesar's "matrimonios," grilled anchovies served on toasts with aioli. Luscious.
	1:03pm Dean: I put Worcestshire in my mac 'n' cheese, and once I had to apologize that as a result it wasn't quite vegetarian. Not sure I'd put anchovies in it, though.
	1:04pm northguineahills: Making anchovy sauces w/ capers, smoked ground chillies (+ other ingredients) w/ pasta is one of my favorite things to make. Asian fish sauces and Worcestershire figure prominently in many dishes as well.
