...the Nazis were all about eliminating 'Degenerative Art' to clear the way for their tacky version of 'Classicism'...if they were the Greatest Generation - were the Nazis - their same age - also?
...It is that *image* of the whole country being Patriotic together & the Post-War prosperity that is so hard to shake in people's minds (i.e. the American Dream) - because it *is* a better image (was for White Males anyhow, &tc.) - it's how it *should* be...& I think that's why it's so hard to get thru to Conservatives that the Rich are Rich & have not cared for decades (the Image is false)...
Avatar 11:41am

may you make mo' money mo' money, Mo' Michael!!! (in nypl database, i see Montclair as base for WFMU. ha, must be your house!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...sadly - I think the PostWar age groups *did* often disrespect the people who fought the War against Fascism - & how could those who experienced the Depression relate to 1960s Boom Economy? Total disconnect...From our Postmodern pov, it just seems unnecessary & sad (like Louis Armstrong & BeBoppers arguing)...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm
Gaylord Fields:

"Kitty Can" is a rare Maurice Gibb lead vocal — and I never understood why he didn't sing more leads. He's sort of the Carl Wilson pre-'67 of the Bee Gees.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
