The MUSIC EXPLOSION saw the light because record producer Jeffrey Katz's childhood friend wrote “I See the Light.” (The same Elliot Chiprut “Simon Says”ed onto the 1910 Fruitgum Company.)

On a podcast interview bassist Burton Stahl said after “Little Bit o'Soul” - written by the Ivy League's John Carter (hmm) - the band had no appetite for assigned “Yummy, Yummy, Yummy,” and instead recommended a fellow Mansfield, Ohio group that Katz & Kasenetz would rename OHIO EXPRESS (They skipped the studio when a studio musician demo turned out so well).

A reference suggests “Ohio Express” touring these days is the original Mansfield drummer . . . . while looks like two surviving members of Music Explosion had been active until MusicExplosionBand.com disappeared – their band played on the studio recordings save for a “Little Bit o'Soul” drummer sub.

Blogger Kim's failure to show story: A missed connection was a blessing because the plane crashed, killing all aboard, but the Ohio Express was still sued for missing the concert that they wouldn’t have made had they been on that fateful flight.

Hey, 20 years ago you played more garage music!
5:39pm fact checker Shadow of a Doubt:

There are two versions of SONNY DAY - "BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT." On YT there's only one video of the more calliope version you played (posted by TheShimShamShimmy with RobertTaylor01 commenting "THIS VERSION IS VERY RARE"), versus seven other vids playing the different version.

Spacebob (no relation) comments on a Discogs page, "The version on STAR 226 is totally different than the version on ABC-PARAMOUNT."

While you've listed ABC-Paramount as the label (this is my challenge), clicking the audio sample icon for the STAR label record on a web page plays your calliope version. Throw out the reliability of any record labels sourced in the YT vids.

Haven't found anything about SONNY DAY other than the term "Popcorn oldie" and flip-side "Creature From Outer Space" on Uncle Michael's playlist.

  8:37am renegade richie:

@ fact checker: Bill Kelly played Sonny Day -“Shadow of Doubt” off one of his marathon premium CDs and gave the wrong label info on the playlist, shame, shame. A second title-misspelled YT video shows the version played on TW as being Star label, while other vids specifying ABC-Paramount are different. Great catch! Wonder if any 45's he playlists really are.
