Of course the Stones got infamously busted right then - which was quite an interruption.
I've always pointed to 'Satanic Majesties' as an example of this thing where the Critics decry an album - but everyone you know & talk to personally actually loves it!...& the Critics catch up later - after a generation, maybe...
There is Site trending where you pick your Top 20 albums & Share or paste them anywhere :
www.20albums.com...
- & someone remarked how what everyone exalts as the best albums now - VU & Nico, Pet Sounds, Forever Changes - all were commercial flops - & it's only because the Critics have told them they're the best everyone says so now (they wouldn't have 30 years ago...) Thing is - I really do love all of those...& 'Satanic Majesties''...

Had to look that up, @mariano, because I've not seen High Anxiety. I was riffing off Young Frankenstein.

@Dean: both were brilliant roles by Cloris Leachman, one of my all-time favorites. The bondage scene between her and Harvey Korman in High Anxiety is priceless. And the way she slurps her spoonful of fruit!
  3:56pm
Dean:

"And the way she slurps her spoonful of fruit" scans like Pre-Raphaelite poetry. Real purty.

speaking of Cloris L, she is great in Last Picture Show

@John M: Yes! Leachman is breathtaking in Last Picture show! She was just amazing in that role. Great movie too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm
mariano:

@John M: a couple of months ago I took the Greyhound from Shreveport, La, to Dallas, going through towns like Longview and Kilgore -- very Texas -- immediately made me think of Last Picture Show.

I think that's what it is, I'm only conversant in German, not fluent! Liebfraumilch is virgin's milk, that much I know for certain. @Breel: yeah, I had a real Greyhound adventure around Mardi Gras. I'm from New Orleans, and my mom's in Shreveport, and I took the bus from NOLA to S'port as well, before going to Dallas to catch my flight back to NYC. The AC broke down, so we had to ride with the roof hatches open. Some serious country stuff, told my friends it was like a Tom Waits album on wheels.

On my trip, we pulled up at an intersection in the middle of Mississippi, country, and a bunch of men got in holding only one manila envelope each. They had just been let out of prison! Then we met a really funny guy who was having a long-term feud with the chief of police in Biloxi. It involved weed, and this guy would not back down.

@Breel: That's a trip (no pun intended)! On my rides there was one guy who had a seizure during boarding in S'port, then a guy or two they wouldn't let on in Lafayette because they were drunk (or smelled like beer, according to the driver -- but it's Louisiana, I thought. Everybody's drunk most of the time). Not quite as eventful as your trip though, no recent prison graduates that I know of.

...I mean Mod = Constructivism, really...
Often noted how Punk often just accepted Women in its' aspirational Anarchism. How great was that? What the hell went wrong ?! Whereas DAda & Surrealism still struggled w/ Goddess/Whore/Object dichotomies...Many Lady Artists there of course. Frida Kahlo kind of trumps them all - like both Authentic Folk & Surrealist all @ once...just blue skying here, sorry...
